The National Down Syndrome Society’s (NDSS) mission is to create a world where individuals with Down syndrome thrive. Founded in 1979, NDSS empowers individuals with Down syndrome and their families by driving policy change, providing resources, engaging with local communities, and shifting public perceptions. The organization advances this mission through its core pillars of Research, Community Access & Supports, and Advocacy & Policy.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Education & Health Programs, the Education & Health Programs Coordinator will support and engage in outreach, education, advocacy, and program implementation activities across NDSS' Education & Health Programs. The role is primarily dedicated to Health Programs (approximately 75%), with the remaining 25% supporting Education Programs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Create research-based health & wellness resources for parents, caregivers, and families of individuals with Down syndrome.

Develop educational resources for parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals using evidence-based practices and current research.

Coordinate the implementation of health and education programs and initiatives in support of organizational goals and priorities.

Collaborate with the Community Engagement team to promote and disseminate health and education resources, programs, and opportunities to community partners.

Support the management of relationships with scientific, educational, health, and partner organizations

Develop, write, edit, and coordinate quarterly health and education newsletters to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and engaging

Create and schedule health and education content for social media, email communications, and web platforms in collaboration with the Communications team

Assist with the implementation and evaluation of program plans and activities, tracking outcomes and documenting program impact

Provide administrative and logistical support for webinars, conferences, workshops, elearning, and other educational activities

Engage with external stakeholders, including donors and partners, to build relationships

Works closely with the Communications Team to ensure newsletter, web, and social media content related to health & education programs is relevant, current, and accurate

Works with the Development Team to help identify sponsorship opportunities and other sources of revenue to support NDSS’ education & health programs

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related area

Minimum of 2 years’ experience

Experience in disability work a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with individuals and organizations

Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain regular and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently

Strong organizational and time management skills

Excellent project management skills

Comfort with public speaking and constituent outreach

Proven ability to interact effectively and communicate well

Energetic with the ability to multitask

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong willingness to initiate deadlines and time frames for assignments and to follow up on all delegated activities
