Team Leader – Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT)

Lead a Team That Makes a Difference Every Day

At headspace Early Psychosis, we're dedicated to supporting young people aged 12–25 who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, psychosis. Through evidence-based, recovery-oriented care, we help young people and their families navigate some of life's most challenging moments and achieve meaningful outcomes.

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Team Leader to lead our Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) at headspace Southport. If you're an inspiring clinical leader who enjoys developing people, driving service excellence, and making a lasting impact on youth mental health, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Team

The Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) is the primary point of entry into the headspace Early Psychosis Program and plays a critical role in providing timely assessment, intervention, and treatment recommendations for young people experiencing early signs of psychosis.

The team delivers comprehensive assessments, risk assessments, clinical formulation, treatment planning, and care recommendations while working closely with young people, families, carers, and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Operating across a seven-day service model, MATT provides responsive support 364 days per year (excluding Christmas Day) ensuring young people can access the right care at the right time

Your Opportunity to Lead with Purpose

As Team Leader, you'll provide clinical, operational, and workforce leadership to a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and specialist staff.

Working collaboratively with the, leadership team, and key stakeholders, you'll be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality service delivery while fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strong clinical leadership, coaching, supervision, and support to multidisciplinary team members.
  • Leading clinical governance activities and ensuring practice aligns with the Orygen Early Psychosis model and evidence-based care.
  • Supporting complex clinical decision-making, risk management, and service quality improvement initiatives.
  • Building a positive, engaged, and collaborative team culture focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for young people and families.
  • Leading workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance development, and staff capability initiatives.
  • Monitoring workforce capacity and proactively identifying and addressing workforce gaps.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing a structured seven-day roster that supports service demand, workforce sustainability, and employee wellbeing.
  • Ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and staffing across the service to maintain timely access to assessment and treatment.
  • Monitoring service performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strengthening partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated and integrated care.

About You

You are a confident and capable leader who combines strong clinical expertise with operational excellence. You are passionate about youth mental health, committed to evidence-based practice, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or another relevant health discipline.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams within mental health, community health, or related settings.
  • Strong clinical expertise in mental health assessment, risk assessment, formulation, and treatment planning.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring, and leadership to clinicians.
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, roster management, and coordinating service delivery within a complex environment.
  • Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • An understanding of youth mental health, recovery-oriented practice, and early psychosis intervention.
  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
  • Current Australian Driver Licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within early psychosis services.
  • Experience working with young people aged 12–25 years and their families.
  • Familiarity with the Orygen Early Psychosis model of care.
