Position and Area: Applied Music Sessional (AMS) – Violin (Baroque)
Estimated AMS Appointments Available: 1 to 2 with 24, hour-long lessons in-person per AMS appointment.
Sessional Dates: September 2026 to April 2027
Salary: $112.44/hour
Qualifications: Graduate degree in violin performance or equivalent professional experience. Doctoral degree
preferred. Ongoing performing activities encompassing a wide range of orchestral, solo, and chamber repertoire. Demonstrated excellence teaching violin (baroque) at the university level.
Duties: Define lesson objectives and materials; provide clear guidelines on studio requirements and regulations; teach
lessons as scheduled; administer and evaluate student progress through assigned repertoire and exercises; ensure that
the Strings Area and Performance Division requirements are met in regard to culminating juries and recitals; prepare and submit final grade and comments in accordance with policy and scheduled deadlines; maintain reasonable hours of
student consultation outside scheduled class hours.
