Job Description:
The Adjunct Professor will work to support osteopathic medical students’ successful progression through pre-clinical training, develop public health
internships/capstones, and provide expert consultation to students interested in additional public health training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead COM Launch Team
- Serve on MPH capstone committees (those already in progress + limited additional committees)
- Identify internship (APEx) clerkship opportunities for current MPH students and document relationships for future use
- Provide advising to students considering advancing to the MPH program
- Provide advising to students considering the Public Health Certificate program
- Work on curriculum development and delivery in a limited fashion as time permits
Other and Supportive Functions:
- Other administrative tasks (i.e., tracking progress towards goals, coordinating meetings with students, updating/maintaining student records)
Qualifications:
- DO/MD degree from an accredited medical school, Master’s degree in public health
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Experience with electronic documentation of student records
- Demonstrated sensitivity to a wide range of disciplines, interests and constituencies represented at KCU and a deep commitment to population health and equity as part of its public mission
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to work effectively and harmoniously with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Sensitivity in working with an ethnically, socio-economically and socially diverse workforce.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
- Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
- Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
