Description
The Commercial Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery and pickup of plumbing and HVAC supplies to customer locations, vendors, and other J. Lorber Company branches throughout the greater Philadelphia area. More than just operating a vehicle, this role is the face of J. Lorber Company to our contractor and customer base. You'll enjoy consistent steady hours with no overnights or weekends—daily deliveries stay within the Delaware Valley. As a Commercial Driver with J. Lorber, you'll build relationships with trade customers and represent our 100+ year reputation for reliability. This position is critical to customer satisfaction and business success.
$500 Sign On Bonus After 90 days.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws, load regulations, and company policies.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain safety/compliance logs.
- Load and unload materials carefully to prevent damage.
- Verify all deliveries against manifests, obtain customer signatures, and document deliveries (including photographs when required).
- Handle COD deliveries, collecting proper payments as noted on delivery paperwork.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle.
- Return keys, mobile devices, fuel receipts, and paperwork at the end of each shift.
Qualifications
- Education: High School or GED
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years distribution and or logistics delivery experience with a clean driving record.
- Ability to make sound decisions related to safe driving and the delivery and placement of loads.
- Ability to adhere to all state and federal driving regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with other employees, customers and vendors.
- Familiarity with the operation of a Smart Phone, iPad and GPS navigation and basic computer skills.
Certificates & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (CDL B a plus)
- Current DOT medical card
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
- Forklift certification (recommended but not required)

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly and occasionally move up to 100 lbs. Must be able to climb in and out of trucks and operate pallet jacks (up to 300 lbs capacity). Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday. Must be able to work in varied indoor/outdoor environments, including docks, warehouse facilities, and customer jobsites. Valid driver's license and ability to drive commercially throughout the region requires.
Work Environment
You’ll spend most of your time in a well-maintained truck cab and on delivery routes. Some loading/unloading may be required outdoors or in warehouse environments. Occasional exposure to weather elements, heat/cold, and warehouse vibrations should be expected.
