Full job description

Responsibilities

Must possess expert-level traditional business analyst skills but are also expected to have proficiency in technical disciplines within data management and/or application development. Responsible for leading businesses in implementing technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, leading or participating in the solutioning and design of requirements implementation and communicating results to/obtaining signoff from stakeholders.

Technical Business Analysts may be assigned by project or technology platform and are expected to participate in every stage of the software development and/or implementation lifecycle, from analysis and design through testing, release, and maintenance while adhering to current Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.

The ideal candidate is not just a requirement note-taker. Looking for someone who can lead business conversations, clarify ambiguity, structure work clearly in Jira, understand the SDLC, support testing and UAT, and identify data, API, integration, and downstream impacts before they become delivery issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology and business/industry
  • 5+ years’ experience working on moderate-to-complex projects or systems
  • Strong background with requirements gathering and analysis
  • Ability to translate business and functional requirements into use cases, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Agile/Lean experience, with Waterfall experience preferred
  • Understanding of SDLC, testing stages, and system delivery
  • Ability to write and execute test plans and test cases
  • Experience engaging with developers, business partners, QA, and project stakeholders
  • SQL experience and ability to support basic data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in business terms
  • Risk assessment, problem solving, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Experience in insurance is preferred

Additional Requirements

Requirements Elicitation and Clarity

  • Ability to lead discovery conversations, not just document what is shared
  • Strong skills clarifying vague, incomplete, or conflicting requirements
  • Ability to separate the business need from the requested solution
  • Ability to identify edge cases, assumptions, dependencies, and downstream impacts
  • Ability to turn business needs into clear, testable, developer-ready requirements

Process, Documentation, and Systems Thinking

  • Ability to document current-state and future-state processes
  • Experience creating process flows, swimlanes, decision trees, or workflow documentation
  • Experience with Confluence or other structured documentation tools
  • Ability to assess upstream/downstream impacts, including data, reporting, security, permissions, integrations, and operational impacts
  • Able to organize information into clear decisions, requirements, and next steps

Jira and Backlog Management

  • Strong Jira experience beyond basic ticket entry
  • Experience maintaining backlog hygiene and identifying whether a story is ready for development
  • Ability to use Jira to support delivery tracking, prioritization, dependencies, blockers, and reporting

SDLC, Testing, and Delivery Ownership

  • Understanding of the full delivery lifecycle from intake through release
  • Experience supporting refinement, development, testing, UAT, defect triage, release readiness, and production validation
  • Ability to help business users define UAT scenarios
  • Ability to document defects clearly with expected results, actual results, and steps to reproduce
  • Strong follow-through and ownership from requirements through implementation

Salesforce Familiarity, Preferred

  • Familiarity with Salesforce objects, fields, record types, page layouts, flows, validation rules, permissions, reports, and dashboards
  • Ability to understand how Salesforce configuration may impact requirements, testing, and delivery
  • Ability to partner effectively with Salesforce developers and administrators
