Full job description
Huron helps its clients drive growth, enhance performance and sustain leadership in the markets they serve. We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you’ll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.
At Huron, Senior Directors lead with expertise and collaboration, partnering with Huron and client leaders to create sustainable solutions that drive meaningful results. As a member of our Healthcare Digital Transformation (HDTx) team, you will operate across two high-priority mandates: leading IT integration on complex M&A transactions and delivering digital transformation advisory and implementation engagements for healthcare provider clients alongside those transactions.
In the M&A context, this leader owns end-to-end IT integration delivery, from due diligence and Day 1 readiness through post-close integration, TSA exit, and value realization. In the digital context, you will serve as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and senior IT leaders, guiding them through complex clinical, operational, and financial transformation initiatives powered by EHR, ERP, AI, automation, and advanced analytics.
You will foster a supportive, inclusive environment, empower teams, and create a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued. If you are passionate about driving impactful solutions at the intersection of M&A and digital transformation and believe in the power of collaboration, Huron offers a rewarding path forward.
Huron is seeking a Director / Senior Director to lead and scale its IT M&A Integration capability across healthcare and related regulated industries. This role is designed for a senior IT integration leader who combines deep transaction experience with strong execution discipline, executive‑level presence, and the ability to build durable, repeatable delivery models.
The Director / Senior Director will serve as a hands‑on leader responsible for end‑to‑end IT integration execution across complex mergers, acquisitions, carveouts, and integrations. This individual will operate at the intersection of deal strategy and delivery, partnering closely with deal executives, client CIOs/CTOs, and Huron practice leaders, while maintaining direct accountability for outcomes, quality, and value realization.
Key Responsibilities
IT M&A Integration Leadership
Lead end-to-end IT integration across mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, and separations, from IT due diligence and Day 1 readiness through post-close integration, TSA exit, and value realization
Serve as the primary IT integration lead on complex, high-stakes transactions, balancing speed, risk, and disciplined execution under compressed timelines
Lead IT due diligence in coordination with functional workstreams, translating findings into actionable integration scope, cost, risk, and timing implications
Lead IT carve-outs and separations across applications, infrastructure, data, security, and access management
Own IT TSA strategy, execution, and exit planning
Provide CIO/CTO-level advisory support while remaining actively engaged in execution details and delivery decisions
Digital Transformation Advisory & Implementation
When deployed on digital (non-M&A) engagements, lead client work across the following areas:
Advise clients on IT strategy, operating model design, and digital roadmaps that leverage emerging technologies, including AI, automation, telehealth, and advanced analytics
Drive the strategy and implementation of IT Advisory engagements across EHR and ERP modernization for healthcare provider clients
Conduct in-depth analysis of provider operations, including clinical and administrative workflows, to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for technology-enabled improvement
Develop compelling business cases that quantify transformation benefits: cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and improved clinical outcomes
Design and execute change management plans to ensure successful adoption of new technologies and workflows by clinical and non-clinical staff
Navigate complex organizational structures and foster cross-functional collaboration to align technology initiatives with strategic business goals
Methodology, Governance & Quality Ownership
Establish, refine, and own Huron's IT M&A integration methodology, playbooks, templates, and delivery standards
Design and enforce integration governance models, decision frameworks, and escalation paths
Apply equivalent delivery rigor to digital transformation engagements, structured frameworks, stakeholder governance, and risk management
Manage project teams providing guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality work products on time and within budget
Identify delivery risks, interdependencies, and gaps early; drive corrective actions across both M&A and digital engagements
Program & Workstream Leadership
Oversee integrated IT programs spanning multiple workstreams, including:
Infrastructure & networks
Cybersecurity & identity management
EHR / EMR platforms (Epic, Cerner, and third-party clinical applications)
ERP and enterprise platforms (Workday, Oracle, SAP, Infor)
Data, analytics, AI, and automation technologies
Cloud strategy, migration, and optimization
Digital health and patient-facing technology enablement
Finance and accounting systems including FP&A, revenue reconciliation, and close automation
People Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing delivery teams across M&A and digital engagements
Coach senior consultants and managers into strong, independent leaders capable of operating across integration and transformation contexts
Define role archetypes, skill requirements, staffing models, and delivery structures to enable scale across both M&A and digital work
Build succession depth and leadership capacity across the IT integration and digital capabilities
Contribute to a supportive, inclusive team environment where diverse perspectives are valued
Commercial & Client Leadership
Build lasting relationships and cultivate trust with client CIOs, CTOs, VPs of IT, and C-level executives, serving as a peer and trusted advisor
Influence executive decision-making and confidently challenge clients when needed to protect outcomes and advance long-term value
Cultivate and expand client relationships, identifying new business development opportunities within existing accounts and potential clients
Lead the development of proposals, presentations, and thought leadership related to M&A integration, healthcare transformation, and digital innovation
Leverage internal and external networks to contribute to new business, delivering sales and industry presentations, participate in negotiations, and closing contracts
Own delivery economics: scoping accuracy, margin performance, and utilization management across engagements
Growth & Market Development
Contribute to the long-term strategy for scaling Huron's IT M&A and Digital offerings
Drive reuse of delivery assets, templates, and playbooks across transactions and transformation engagements
Partner across Huron practices, connecting M&A integration with operational, digital, and AI-enabled transformation efforts
Contribute to the growth of the practice by building market presence, expanding service offerings, and mentoring junior consultants
Support build-vs-buy decisions for expanding IT integration depth, tooling, and delivery capacity
12+ years of consulting experience in digital transformation and/or IT integration, with significant experience at a Big 4 or top-tier management consulting firm
Direct M&A experience leading IT integration efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, or carve-outs with accountability for delivery outcomes
Proven track record leading digital transformation projects involving technology implementation (e.g., EHR, ERP, AI, telehealth) and data analytics, managing scope, budgets, timelines, and client relationships
Deep understanding of healthcare provider operations: acute care, ambulatory settings, patient access, and clinical workflows
Proven ability to lead large, multi-workstream IT programs under compressed timelines
Strong critical thinking skills for data analysis with the ability to make actionable recommendations
Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive-level client management skills
Willingness to travel as needed (typically Monday–Thursday)
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with specific digital health platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Salesforce Health Cloud) and/or ERP platforms (Workday, Oracle, SAP, Infor)
Knowledge of healthcare finance and accounting systems including FP&A, revenue reconciliation, and close automation
Prior experience building or scaling an IT integration capability or center of excellence
Familiarity with emerging healthcare payment models (e.g., value-based care) and associated digital requirements
Experience in a matrixed organization or cross-functional team environment
Experience managing vendors, delivery partners, and sourcing decisions while retaining methodology and quality control
Certification in relevant areas (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma, CPHIMS)
