Full job description

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Hanwha Energy USA, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is part of the Hanwha Group—a FORTUNE Global 300 company and one of South Korea’s most respected business enterprises. With over a decade of experience delivering high-quality, utility-scale energy projects across North America, Hanwha Energy USA has evolved into a comprehensive energy solutions provider. Our portfolio now spans utility-scale renewables, natural gas generation, retail electricity, and strategic partnerships that power America’s growing data center industry.

Our expertise covers the entire energy value chain—from project development and engineering to construction, operations, and maintenance. By integrating advanced technologies, proven processes, and strong partnerships, we deliver reliable, customized solutions that meet the dynamic needs of local energy markets.

Hanwha Energy USA is actively advancing strategic initiatives in natural gas generation and data center development, including hyperscaler solutions on both sides of the meter. We are proud to serve as the parent company of:

  • Hanwha Renewables – specializing in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Chariot Energy – providing retail electricity services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers in deregulated markets

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager will play a key role in building and operating Hanwha Energy USA’s marketing and communications function. This position will help develop a consistent content engine across Hanwha Energy USA and its U.S. businesses, turning internal business activity, market insight, project milestones, leadership priorities, and subject-matter expertise into clear, credible external-facing communications.

This role is ideal for a strong writer and communicator with meaningful energy industry knowledge, editorial judgment, and the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and business-relevant way. Experience in energy journalism, energy trade media, corporate communications, public relations, or B2B energy content is highly relevant.

The position will support external communications, media relations, website content, LinkedIn content, executive communications, business development materials, internal communications, presentations, and communications planning. The role requires strong project management discipline, comfort working across business lines, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization.

The successful candidate should be comfortable operating in a corporate environment where communications materials often require stakeholder input, multiple rounds of review, legal or leadership approval, and careful alignment with business priorities.

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and is based in Houston, TX.

The employee may be required to perform other job-related duties as requested by management. All duties will be assigned in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source content from internal subject-matter experts across renewables, battery storage, gas-powered solutions, retail electricity, data centers, power marketing, strategic partnerships, project development, and corporate functions.
  • Interview internal stakeholders to identify meaningful business updates, market insights, project milestones, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Draft and edit website copy, LinkedIn posts, articles, project updates, fact sheets, business-line descriptions, talking points, executive messages, and presentation content.
  • Help maintain consistent company voice, messaging, and editorial standards across communications materials.

Media Relations and External Communications

  • Support media relations planning and execution for Hanwha Energy USA and its U.S. businesses.
  • Help identify relevant reporters, publications, and media opportunities across energy, infrastructure, business, power markets, data centers, renewables, and local project markets.
  • Draft media pitches, press materials, media backgrounders, Q&A documents, executive briefing materials, and reporter follow-up materials.
  • Monitor media coverage, industry news, and market developments relevant to Hanwha Energy USA.
  • Help prepare executives and subject-matter experts for interviews, speaking opportunities, and external engagements.

Digital, Website, and Social Media Communications

  • Manage day-to-day content planning and execution for Hanwha Energy USA’s digital communications channels.
  • Develop and maintain a LinkedIn content calendar aligned with company priorities, business-line activity, events, announcements, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Coordinate website content updates, landing pages, news items, project content, and business-line materials with internal teams and external web partners.
  • Support basic performance reporting across LinkedIn, website, digital campaigns, and other communications channels.
  • Recommend improvements to digital content based on audience engagement, business priorities, and communications objectives.

Business Development, Executive, and Internal Communications Support

  • Support the development and maintenance of company overviews, capability summaries, sales collateral, project factsheets, business-line slides, customer-facing materials, and event materials.
  • Work with commercial, strategy, project development, data center, gas, renewables, and retail teams to ensure materials are accurate, current, and aligned with approved messaging.
  • Draft and edit executive communications, leadership messages, internal announcements, employee updates, and presentation materials.
  • Support internal communications initiatives related to company priorities, organizational changes, employee engagement, events, and culture.

Communications Operations and Workflow

  • Build and maintain communications planning tools, content calendars, approval trackers, and project workflows.
  • Coordinate review and approval processes with business leaders, Legal, HR, external vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage communications timelines for recurring deliverables, announcements, events, website updates, and collateral development.
  • Support vendor coordination for web development, design, public relations, paid media, and other marketing services.
  • Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support research, drafting, editing, content planning, summarization, and workflow efficiency while applying strong editorial judgment, fact-checking discipline, and confidentiality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical or business topics into clear, credible, audience-appropriate communications.
  • Experience developing external-facing content such as articles, press materials, website copy, LinkedIn posts, executive messages, thought leadership, business collateral, or presentation materials.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, approvals, stakeholders, content calendars, and multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Ability to work effectively with executives, business leaders, subject-matter experts, external vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong judgment regarding confidentiality, reputational risk, accuracy, claim substantiation, and external messaging.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Word.
  • Must be able to work from the Houston office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience as an energy journalist, energy editor, energy newsletter writer, trade publication reporter, or business journalist covering energy, infrastructure, utilities, power markets, or data centers.
  • Corporate communications or public relations experience in the energy, infrastructure, utility, renewables, oil and gas, data center, industrial, or B2B technology sectors.
  • Experience supporting media relations, including media research, pitch development, interview preparation, press materials, and media monitoring.
  • Experience managing LinkedIn company page content, website updates, editorial calendars, and digital content workflows.
  • Experience supporting sales, business development, investor, customer, or stakeholder-facing materials.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing company, newly established function, or matrixed organization.
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools for research, drafting, editing, content planning, and workflow improvement.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent business writing and editing skills.
  • Strong editorial judgment, curiosity, and energy industry fluency.
  • Ability to identify what is newsworthy, relevant, credible, and useful to external audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management discipline.
  • High level of ownership, urgency, and follow-through.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and help build processes where they do not yet exist.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across business lines.
  • Ability to balance speed, accuracy, approvals, and business priorities.
