Purpose:

The Volunteer & Food Drive Coordinator supports the mission of God’s Pantry Food Bank by engaging volunteers and community partners on behalf of those experiencing hunger. This role works closely with the Community Engagement Team and the Volunteer & Food Drive Manager to assist in day-to-day coordination of the volunteer activities, community food drives, and the operational readiness of the Volunteer Center, while ensuring a positive, safe and productive environment.  

Essential Duties/Functions:

Volunteer Engagement:

1. Implement strategies to cultivate, support and strengthen volunteer engagement across the Food Bank network. 

2. Research volunteer engagement trends to develop meaningful and strategic volunteer roles if requested. 

3. Advise and assist departments with volunteer recruitment, deployment, retention and management.

4. Promote understanding of the Food Bank’s mission, purpose and impact to volunteers. 

Volunteer Coordination:

1. Coordinate and lead volunteer sessions, ensuring safety protocols and operational needs are met.

2. Maintain volunteer scheduling and records through CERVIS.

3. Keep volunteer work areas stocked, organized, and ready for shifts; communicate supply or equipment needs to Volunteer & Food Drive Manager.

4. Support volunteer recognition efforts and leadership programs.

5. Assist with monthly volunteer e-newsletters.

6. Lead volunteers at pantries, distribution sites, and special events as needed.

Volunteer Center & Pantry Maintenance:

1. Maintain the overall readiness, cleanliness, and organization of the Volunteer Center & Pantry.

2. Ensure equipment, tools, supplies, signage, and safety materials are stocked and functioning.

3. Coordinate with the Maintenance and Food Safety team on repairs, updates, or maintenance needs.

4. Maintain Food Defense and Safety programs, records and protocols to ensure AIB standards are met and maintained. 

5. Monitor environmental conditions and ensure the Volunteer Center & Pantry remains safe, welcoming, and aligned with Food Bank standards.

Food Drive Coordination: 

1. Provide excellent service and communication to all food drive partners.

2. Support recruitment, planning, promotion, and strategic growth of community food drives.

3. Cultivate long-term food drive relationships and onboard new partners.

4. Coordinate food drive activities with volunteers, staff, and community partners.

5. Arrange food drive logistics with Warehouse and Transportation teams.

6. Track and enter food drive donor information, poundage, and monetary donations.

7. Monitor and manage donation barrel inventory and condition.

8. Collaborate with Digital Communications to maintain the virtual food drive site, update online resources, post food recalls, and assist with social media responsibilities.

Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Exceptional tenants of stewardship, integrity, and trust.

· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. 

· Ability to work with a broad cross section of individuals. 

· Ability to lead individuals and groups of varying size, ages, demographics and restrictions. 

· Ability to work flexible schedule that includes evening and weekends. 

· Computer aptitude and basic knowledge required.  Working knowledge of Microsoft products is a plus.

· Dedication to the Food Bank mission with concern for the issues of hunger and poverty and their solutions. 

· Creative problem solving and critical thinking.

Education/Experience Required:

· High School Education or GED

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

· Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling materials, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

· Regular lifting up to 10 lbs.; frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.; rare lifting over 100 lbs.

· Ability to drive a vehicle and operate (or train to operate) manual/electric pallet jacks.

· Full visual capability, including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

· Work performed across warehouse, office, and outdoor environments with varying seasonal temperatures.

· Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels and active warehouse conditions with moving mechanical equipment.

· Occasional exposure to cold storage areas, uneven surfaces, and occasional fumes or airborne particles.

Office work occurs in a shared, active environment with volunteers, staff, and visitors present.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

· Access to vehicle and a good driving record. 

· Familiarity with ServSafe guidelines and CERVIS volunteer software is a plus. 

· Basic First Aid knowledge is a plus.
