Description

Are you passionate about building strong communities and supporting volunteers who make a real impact? We're seeking a part-time Community Engagement Specialist who will play a key role in shaping the future of newly established Girl Scout Troops. This is a non-exempt position.

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for planning and facilitating programs, using the National Girl Scout Program Portfolio and other identified programs, to girls in underrepresented communities throughout a specified geographic area.

This is a hybrid position (not fully remote). To be considered, candidates must reside in North Carolina, specifically within or in close proximity to Robeson County, inside our council’s 41-county service footprint. The starting pay rate for this role is $16.00 per hour.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deliver Girl Scout Community Outreach Program opportunities to girls within a specified area.
  • Ensure all GSLE registration paperwork is accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping systems for membership data, program evaluation metrics, and budgets.
  • Establish and execute plans under leadership direction to achieve recruitment, re-engagement, and membership development goals.
  • Promote and support Council fundraising efforts, including mobilizing participation in the Fall Product and Annual Cookie Sale programs.
  • Market program activities and cultivate strong partnerships with community leaders, institutions, business organizations, and volunteers.
  • Partner with Membership Directors/Coordinators to transition outreach participants into traditional troops or sustainable program options.
  • Ensure completion and timely submission of participant post-assessment surveys and outcome measurements for grant reporting.
  • Report on progress toward goals and adjust outreach strategies as needed or directed.
  • Actively support council diversity and affirmative action commitments by ensuring equal access and recruitment across all racial/ethnic groups.
  • Serve as a professional council representative through positive modeling, problem-solving, and ongoing support for school and community personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred); bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and goals of Girl Scouting; willingness to become a GSUSA member.
  •  Proven ability to work effectively with diverse volunteers and community partners to build strong leadership teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including nights and weekends) with regional travel required; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and NC state registration/inspection compliance.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Girl Scout Membership upon hire.
