General Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for clients, families, staff, and visitors at Firefly Autism. This position performs routine custodial duties, proactively maintains cleanliness throughout the facility, and responds promptly to sanitation requests during operating hours. The Custodian plays a vital role in supporting infection prevention, client safety, and uninterrupted clinical services by ensuring the center remains clean, organized, and ready to support high quality autism treatment.
Position Note
This is an active, daytime custodial position that supports the clinical team by maintaining a clean environment and responding promptly to sanitation needs throughout the workday, including accidents involving bodily fluids. The Custodian is an important member of the team, helping ensure clients receive services in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an autism treatment center where employees regularly interact with clients, families, and clinical staff. This position requires routine exposure to cleaning chemicals, infectious materials, and bodily fluids, including urine, feces, vomit, blood, saliva, and other potentially infectious materials. Appropriate training, personal protective equipment (PPE), and cleaning supplies will be provided to ensure duties are performed safely and in accordance with OSHA standards.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or 4 years experience working with children.
- Previous custodial, environmental services, school, childcare, healthcare, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
