Role Summary
We are recruiting a Pre-Sales Solution Architect to join our growing team. You will be working in tandem with our Sales Team, applying a consultative selling approach to find the best solutions for our prospective clients. On a day-to-day basis, your role will involve: running demos and workshops, designing future state architectures, and becoming a product and technical expert on the FINBOURNE platform.
This role is varied and you will work with clients from all across the buy-side, from Asset Managers and Asset Services to Hedge Funds, Alternatives and Private Wealth Managers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who enjoys building relationships with clients, working in the financial services domain and building technology-based solutions (using mostly Claude Code, Python and SQL).
Prospective client meetings are both in person and online so you must be able to work at our London offices on a regular basis – this is not a fully remote role.
Key Responsibilities
- Product demonstrations and workshops:
- You will design and deliver product demos and workshops for prospective clients.
- These workshops will be aimed at a wide spectrum of technical and non-technical users, from Investment Operations and Portfolio Managers to Software Engineers (therefore “knowing your audience” is key).
- You will create bespoke demos using FINBOURNE’s software toolkits (primarily in Python and SQL using Claude Code).
- Solutions design:
- You will be responsible for all architectural discussions with prospective clients - asking the right questions and documenting their business requirements is key.
- You will analyse those business requirements to design a future state architecture using FINBOURNE’s platform.
- You will then run workshops and demos to pitch the solution.
- During this process you will collaborate with the Sales, Product and internal Engineering teams to design the optimal solution.
- Providing technical expertise
- You will develop a deep understanding of FINBOURNE’s products and technical capabilities, becoming the primary advisor to both the Sales Team and prospective clients.
- You will run training sessions to upskill colleagues in the Sales Team.
- You will become a conduit between prospective clients and FINBOURNE’s Product team providing feedback to drive the future roadmap.
Skills and Experience
What skills and experience are required?
- You will need to be very comfortable presenting demos and workshops (in person and online).
- You will need industry experience working in financial services.
- You will need excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- You will need to be confident in discussing financial concepts with clients at COO and CTO level.
What skills and experience are ideal (but not essential)?
- FINBOURNE is an API first platform, so ability to write against the APIs is beneficial (we primarily use Python and SQL with assistance from Claude Code)
- Experience working with a vendor (like FINBOURNE) is ideal but we are also interested to hear from candidates with the right skillset who have experience working in Consultancies, Banks, Asset Managers and Asset Servicers.
- The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of buy-side workflows, from portfolio and order management to transaction lifecycle, transfer agency and fund accounting.
- Experience in Technical Pre-Sales is preferred but we are open to candidates from other backgrounds with the right skills and attitude.
- Knowledge of the following systems: Investment Books of Records, Accounting Book of Records, Portfolio Management Systems , Enterprise Data Management, Order Management Systems.
- Knowledge of data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.
- Basic understanding of cloud and SaaS (particularly AWS or Azure).
- Git (or other version control tools).
- Jupyter Notebooks.
Just some of our benefits
- Competitive salary plus performance based bonus.
- Hybrid: We have a mature attitude towards hybrid working. Whether you’re a night owl, morning person, parent, carer or simply need flexibility to work a different pattern to the norm, we’re committed to helping you be productive and work in a way that is best for you.
- Professional learning and development: External training and accreditations are supported, as well as internal training and development programs.
- Maternity, paternity and adoption leave: Paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave, which includes 13 weeks full pay for maternity and adoption leave and 6 weeks full pay for paternity leave
