ENA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule that allows employees the opportunity to work from the office two days a week and at home three days a week. We are headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Practice Excellence Specialist is responsible for managing professional practice resources and initiatives for the Emergency Nurses Association by utilizing comprehensive, evidence-based knowledge of emergency nursing and emergency health care. The Specialist provides clinical expertise and collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure successful execution of projects related to emergency nursing practice, quality, safety and injury prevention. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leads the development and dissemination of evidence-informed practice resources and initiatives that advance safe, ethical, high-quality, patient-centered emergency care across the lifespan and care continuum.
  1. Facilitates the process to ensure all practice resources are regularly reviewed and kept current or archived; works in collaboration with product management staff to maintain accurate tracking of resource cadence as part of the education portfolio.

  2. Facilitates the development and revision of ENA position statements according to established development guidelines; prepares documents for board review and approval.
  1. Serves as a content expert and liaison for emergency and forensic nursing practice, regulation, and health policy, supporting the integration of evidence-based principles into practice resources, standards, and organizational initiatives.
  1. Serves as a resource for emergency departments seeking to strengthen the practice environment through initiatives focused on culture, nurse well-being, authentic leadership, safety, clinical excellence and staffing.
  1. Writes and facilitates development and publication of articles, newsletters, book chapters, electronic documents, white papers, and other material related to practice, quality, safety, and injury prevention issues of importance to emergency nurses, other health care providers, and the public when deemed necessary or upon request. 
  1. Collaborates with external stakeholders and organizations to support and advocate for emergency nursing practice and emergency health care. 
  1. Develops and contributes to publications and professional content related to emergency nursing practice, quality, safety, injury prevention, and emerging healthcare issues.
  1. Contributes to the workplace culture that is consistent with the association’s culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision and values of the organization. 
  1. Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. Views oneself as a reflection of the organization by following through on commitments and accepting ownership.
  1. Performs additional related duties as required or assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with a relevant clinical focus
  • Minimum 5-7 years of recent experience working as an emergency nurse
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze and synthesize clinical evidence, research, and professional practice information to develop evidence-based standards, programs, and practice recommendations.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to communicate complex clinical and technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating learning to support professional development, promote evidence-based practice, and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, including planning, coordinating, and executing multiple initiatives while meeting established timelines and objectives.
  • Association experience.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This position is a salaried/exempt position. The targeted salary range is $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Compensation is determined based on a range of factors, including experience, education, certifications or specialized training, skill level and operational needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an exchange of information; collect, compile and prepare work documents; set-up and maintain work files, participate in meetings. Use of the computer, with repetitive motion, is approximately 80%. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
