JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/ Objective

East Side House (ESH) is a community resource in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. We believe education is the
key that enables all people to create economic and civic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their
community. ESH’s Student Success Centers (SSC) aligns with our mission by providing high-quality programs and
services within community centers and school partnerships.

Reporting to the Department Director of Post-Secondary Pathways, the Program Director is responsible to lead and oversee the Student Success Center (SSC) program, ensuring high-quality college and career readiness services that help high school students successfully graduate and transition into post-secondary education, while managing staff, partnerships, operations, and program outcomes. The Program Director will lead the Student Success Center, supervise and develop staff, support students’ college and career readiness, manage school and community relationships, monitor data and produce reports, and coordinator events and special ac vi es. As a member of the Post-Secondary Pathways team, the Program Director is expected to be a leader, relationship-builder, supervisor, strategist, and advocate for student success. This position’s direct reports include College Counselor and Youth Leaders (YLs) and interacts with Post-Secondary Pathways program. With a focus on helping students prepare for access, and transition into college or other post-secondary opportunities while ensuring the Student Success center operates effectively, the Program Director provides college access and readiness services, student success and graduation support, youth leadership development, case management and student monitoring, family and school engagement, and program activities and events.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Department Director of Post-Secondary Pathways, the Program Director, will be responsible for but not limited to the following: -

The day-to-day management including building and maintaining relationships with administration, faculty, staff, students and families.
Directly provide quality supervision of East Side House support staff through monthly group meetings as well as individual meetings to discuss performance, goals, outcomes, strengths and challenges.
Develop quantitative and qualitative reports on the Student Success Center that includes attendance, supports provided by staff and Youth Leaders, as well as event documentation.
Maintain and organize all required records according to organizational and contractual requirements and applicable regulations.
Work closely with key constituents including DOE staff and CARA to support staff and students in supplemental programs and service.
Communicate effectively with students, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders.
Participate in department-wide collaborations including staff training, advocacy and seeks to foster cross site collaboration with other programs.
Lead and participate in administrative and staff meetings on a regular basis or as requested.
Guide students towards removing barriers toward graduation, engage students in college preparatory activities, provide supportive services, and increase self-direction and self-sufficiency.
Plan and organize program activities to maximize program contract's goals and performance targets.
Review all documentation related to students' progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
Plan support and attend Youth Leader Summer Training and Academic Year Conferences.
Provide data collection for Graduation, College, and lastly other post-secondary placements as an annual culminating report.
Manage budget (non-personnel) and submit requests in accordance with fiscal policies.
Ensure that program staff follows through on all planning, budgetary, scheduling and implementation tasks.

QualificationsQualifications
To perform this position successfully, the Program Director must be able to fulfill all the elements of the job
description to the highest standard and be able to work well with colleagues in a high energy and collaborative work
environment. Additional qualifications include:

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with youth at risk and/or school se ng with experience in post-secondary education work.
Experience in program administration on including staff supervision and program implementation.
Bi-lingual skills preferred.
Excellent verbal, analytical, written, communication, and organizational skills.
intermediate knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Teams, Google Suite, Zoom, and other applicatons.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for supervising and managing the performance of all designated employees assigned to
the position within the department within your Student Success Center which includes the College Counselor &
Youth Leaders.

Physical Demands

This role may involve occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds and routine use of standard office
equipment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the
essential functions.

Expected Work Schedule

The work schedule expected for this position is: Monday through Friday | 8:00am to 4:00pm, as aligned too the
needs of the program/ service. The schedule may be adjusted based on ESH’s operational needs, with notice
provided whenever possible.
