POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the Director of Sports and Youth Programs with developing, organizing, and implementing high quality YMCA programs. Responsible for youth programs/special events, birthday parties, child watch, and specialty camps. This position will be expected to follow the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every duty associated with the YMCA. Creates a positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill CYEDC objectives.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Establishing and maintaining positive and productive relationships with families, keeping parents/guardians well informed regarding the child’s growth and development, offering family resources, and utilizing all communication resources.
Works closely with the Sports and Youth Programs Director and management staff to ensure effective communication and operations of all programs.
Adheres to the policies and procedures established by the management staff and CYEDC Board of Directors.
Attends clinics, workshops, trainings and meetings as required.
Maintains accurate records for all programs.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Develops and monitors programs budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
Models relationship building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
1-2 years related experience preferred.
Minimum age of 21.
Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Completion of required trainings.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
