This is an opportunity to contribute to how risk is managed across a large, international organisation, while developing your experience in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
About CMS
CMS is a Future Facing organisation of independent law firms. We combine local insight with a broader, international perspective to help clients respond to change and plan ahead.
We focus on building strong relationships with our clients and colleagues. Our teams work together to deliver clear, business-focused advice, supported by a culture that values collaboration, inclusion and professional responsibility.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will:
Respond to queries from the Risk team inbox, supporting colleagues across the firm
Provide guidance on the application of the SRA Code of Conduct
Support colleagues on compliance topics such as confidentiality, outside interests, share dealing and anti-bribery and corruption
Assist with documentation including auditor requests, supplier agreements and secondment arrangements
Advise on engagement letters and terms of business, including key provisions such as conflicts, confidentiality and limitation of liability
Review and advise on client terms, working with Contract Lawyers where needed
Deliver training on risk and compliance topics to support understanding of firm policies and responsibilities
Contribute to risk assessments, audits and internal investigations
Support data protection matters, including data breaches and subject access requests
Review client file requests in line with firm processes
Maintain and improve team processes, systems and guidance
Act as a point of contact for regulatory queries from teams including Conflicts, AML and Matter Administration
Support the resolution of conflicts issues in collaboration with the Conflicts team
Provide input on risk considerations when new business is being reviewed
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and support updates to policies and procedures
Contribute to wider risk projects led by senior members of the team
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who can build effective working relationships and apply sound judgement in a professional environment. You’ll bring:
Experience working in a legal or professional services environment
Experience in compliance or professional practice regulation
An understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct
Strong research and analytical skills
The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
A clear and structured approach to problem solving
Confidence in communicating with a range of stakeholders
