Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. One year of related work experience is preferred, along with the ability to maintain a flexible schedule.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Event Attendant will be under the supervision of the Civic Center Manager, under the general direction of the Parks Director. The primary role of this position will include facility cleaning, preparation, and monitoring for events held at the Civic Center, Community Center, North Center, and general support of the Parks Department. The Event Attendant is expected to ensure a professional presence for the facilities and satisfaction for clients, guests, and vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Janitorial duties such as sweep, mop, vacuum, disinfect all inventory and building entry/exit ways.

o Uses proper cleaning methods and equipment to disinfect, deodorize restrooms, mirrors, kitchen appliances, meeting rooms, common areas, offices and floors, walls, tables, chairs, carpets, floor mats, other fixtures etc.

• Must use proper chemicals in accordance with training to ensure inventory is clean and sanitized.

• Performs setup and break down for meetings and events as instructed through written and/or oral communication.

o Sets up tables, chairs, podium, dance floor, stage and audio/visual equipment for public or private events.

• Responsible for maintaining all inventory of equipment and supplies that pertain to the rental facilities and preparing reports as needed.

o Reports unsafe equipment, tools, electrical, tables, chairs, and vehicles.

• Responsible for ensuring event facilities and areas around the buildings are kept clean and neat at all times.

• Communicates in a professional and friendly manner while serving as the primary contact during event(s) between renter(s) to ensure facilities, equipment, and physical setup meets the requirements of the event and contractual agreements within the constraints of safety, health and fire code standards.

o Operates and/or assists renter(s) with services in the event facilities including but not limited to: lighting adjustments, audio/visual equipment, HVAC and electrical systems, and general cleaning equipment; parking, loading areas, wheelchair accessible ramps, and entrances/exits.

o Signs in/out renter(s) of event facilities and monitors events while maintaining contact with renter(s) to ensure guest and vendor safety, and to ensure City policies are being followed.

o Documents damage or policy violations by reporting unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries to proper authorities. Prepares incident and event reports as needed.

• Sets up beverage service, makes coffee, tea, bottled water, ice and sodas, and when necessary picks up food products for specific meetings and events.

• Follows events facilities (Standard Operating Procedures) SOP’s as well as the City of Schertz Employee Handbook.

• Represents the best interest of the City, and recognizes, avoids and solves potential problems, anticipates needs, and resolves customers service inquires and other issues.

• Performs data entry, copying, faxes, and completes daily check lists at the end of shift by scanning and sending to supervisor via email, creating work orders, and completing work orders

• May perform administrative support functions to maintain facility signage and system operations; may provide customer service support in the office, over the phone and by leading tours of the facilities

• Attends job training and safety programs.

• May be called upon during any City emergency or disaster that may arise.

• Scheduling flexibility is a must; will work various scheduled days and hours according to workload and events scheduled.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) year of related work experience preferred.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a valid driver’s license.
