Performs comprehensive maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on City-owned vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include managing maintenance records, procuring parts, and supervising Assistant Mechanics.
Requires a high school diploma and 1-3 years of automotive and truck repair experience. Must possess a valid Ohio Commercial Drivers License (preferably Class A) and have the ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions.

General Description of Work: Performs maintenance and repair of City-owned vehicles and equipment; maintains maintenance records and recommends purchase of needed supplies.
Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Fleet Supervisor and occasionally the Working Foreman.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, more if required
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess one (1) to three (3) years experience with automotive and truck repairs. Extensive knowledge of engines and mechanical parts. Ability to weld and paint vehicles and equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems. Ability to work in uncomfortable surroundings and ability to work overtime is required. Must possess a valid Ohio Commercial Drivers License, preferably CDL Class A. An individual who poses a threat to themself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for the position.
Preferred Certifications:
ASE Master Mechanic. Any other relevant ASE Certifications.
