Duties: The Building Technician V (HVAC/R) maintains and repairs all types of large, analog and digitally controlled HVAC/R systems including, but not limited to centrifugal and reciprocating chilled water systems, air cooled chillers, heat pumps and all ancillary equipment, including pumps and variable Speed Drives (VFD's). Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC/R systems in City of Pasadena facilities. Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including chillers, boilers, large split, rooftop systems and refrigeration equipment throughout the City. Repair, replace or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring. Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls and humidity sensors according to wiring schematics. Maintain refrigerant dispensing recording to meet federal EPA requirements. Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment including filters, belts and coil cleaning. Receive and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain accurate records on materials and labor used. Inspect jobs upon completion to ensure areas are clean. Detect needed repairs on equipment following inspections procedures. Respond to emergency calls as needed. Perform general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in clean operable condition. Perform all duties and work assignments in accordance with City policies and procedures. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Other duties as assigned out of HVAC/R.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. (5) Five years' experience in HVAC/R field. EPA certification and Texas driver's license required. Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license or technician certification.

Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year.
From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
From 11 to less than 21 years of service – four weeks of vacation per year.
From 21 to less than 26 years of service – five weeks of vacation per year.
From 26 years of service and up – six weeks of vacation per year.
