The Energy Engineer will lead corporate energy and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives to support the City's net-zero emissions target by 2050. Responsibilities include managing metering programs, analyzing utility consumption, and identifying cost-saving opportunities across municipal facilities.

The Sustainability and Asset Management department is leading Markham’s efforts to achieve net-zero energy emissions by 2050. Reporting to the Manager, Facility Capital Planning, the Energy Engineer will support corporate energy and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives by tracking, analyzing, improving and reporting on Citywide energy and utility consumption.
This role is responsible for initiatives including corporate energy management planning, metering systems, utility and bill management, Global Reporting Initiative reporting, Ontario Regulation 507/18 reporting, monitoring and verification of energy project savings, employee awareness campaigns, greenhouse gas tracking, and identification of energy and cost savings opportunities.
