Full job description

The Betsy Lehman Center is a dynamic state agency that plays a unique role in improving health care, safety and quality in Massachusetts.

Our programming, research, policy and communications work engages other state health care agencies, providers, and consumers in initiatives. The Center, named for a Boston Globe health columnist who died in 1994 from a preventable medical error, is supported by and shares space with the state’s Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA).

We are seeking a resourceful individual to serve as a temporary Communications Program Coordinator. This is a 35-40-hour-per-week contract position, with an anticipated term through approximately June 30, 2027. The expected compensation range is $30.00 to $35.29 per hour.

The contractor will report to the Director of Communications and provide communications coordination services and complete project-based deliverables that may include:

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders. This includes scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, disseminating meeting agendas, taking notes, writing minutes or summaries, assembling responses, and needed follow-up actions.
  • Drafting, editing, and formatting communications materials for review and approval by Center staff, including newsletters, flyers, reports, social media content, educational materials, and website copy.
  • Create engaging videos and infographics for the newsletter, website, and social media.
  • Support Center staff in producing virtual events and webinars on Zoom.
  • Support communications team in developing marketing and communications plans, including strategies for disseminating reports and raising awareness of Center programs.
  • Additional coordination or communications duties as assigned.

The successful candidate is a self-starter who has a desire to contribute to a small team with an important mission and who also has:

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of and interest in public health. Knowledge of patient safety and/or government work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Premiere, is a plus.
