Full job description

SUMMARY:

The Development Officer will travel frequently to qualify for new donors, build, advance, and cultivate relationships capable of generating donations and gifts to Chapman Partnership. This position works with the VP of Development on cultivating and soliciting gifts and corporate support. The Development Officer assists in the management of Corporate Leadership Circle members, Corporate Partners, Nextgen young professionals' affinity group and signature fundraising events support. The position supports the execution of the organization's annual fundraising plan, including major gifts, sponsorships, direct mail, online giving, volunteer engagement, and special events.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, traveling as needed to build and advance relationships.
  2. Recruit, cultivate, and solicit volunteers and leverage volunteer relationships to expand the scope of Chapman Partnership’s annual fundraising efforts.
  3. Prepare and communicate briefings, grant and program information, and other correspondence for prospects, collaborating with the Marketing Department and Volunteer Programs.
  4. Manage prospects and volunteer activity using the Raiser’s Edge database and associated reporting tools for tracking and goal setting.
  5. Maintain in-depth knowledge of Chapman Partnership’s programs and resident services to ensure fundraising campaigns are targeted; innovative, and measurable results can be communicated.
  6. Financial goal expectations of $500,000 in revenue from fundraising efforts through corporate partnerships, signature events, NextGen affinity group and individual donors giving between $1,000 - $5,000. 
    Goal is subject to change based on donor retention percentage and economic climate.
  7. Manage special fundraising projects under the guidance of the VP of Development to enhance affinity-based fundraising and increase support for Chapman Partnership.
  8. Manage special events, internal or external, to support campaigns, initiatives, resident services, and other organizational priorities.
  9. Perform other duties assigned by management, including serving as a liaison to several departments, internal and external vendors, and community partners.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree plus three to five (3–5) years of experience in fundraising, community relations, business development, hospitality, brand awareness, and donor cultivation.
  • Master's degree in a related field and/or CFRE certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, building community awareness, fostering relationships, managing programs, and planning events.
  • South Florida/Miami market experience is a plus.

 

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Chapman Partnership policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of strategic development and volunteer management in the nonprofit sector.
  • Knowledge of direct mail is planned to give initiatives, special events, marketing, and public relations campaigns.
  • Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to provide effective support and guidance to further develop professionals within the department.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems.
  • Effective time management and project management skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
