About
The Cylinder Technician I is responsible for performing overall maintenance, inspection, and preparation of the Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) cylinder fleet. This role involves working with various sizes of cylinders, valves, dip tubes, and cylinder hardware to support operational requirements across Production, R&D, and the Pilot Plant.
The position ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while maintaining inventory accuracy and assisting with hardware tracking in the company’s MRP system. Employees receive extensive safety and process-specific training before independently performing maintenance and handling duties.
Essential Functions
Maintains inventory accuracy and performs cycle counts for all cylinders located on site and within the company cylinder fleet.
Prepares, stages, and distributes cylinders to support production schedules.
Supports cylinder requirements for Research & Development and Pilot Plant operations.
Inspects, repairs, and maintains cylinders, cylinder valves, fittings, and related hardware.
Removes labels, prepares surfaces, and paints cylinders as required.
Installs valves and dip tubes on new cylinders in accordance with established procedures.
Assists with maintaining cylinder records and inventory information within the company's MRP system.
Performs sandblasting of cylinders, cylinder wells, and related components.
Maintains organized, clean, and safe cylinder storage and work areas.
Properly wears and maintains required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and other equipment as required.
Follows established operating procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements while performing assigned duties.
Uses company computer systems and handheld devices to maintain records, inventory transactions, and required documentation.
Participates in required safety, operational, and compliance training.
Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Assists with additional warehouse, shipping, receiving, or production support activities as needed.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer, job-related medical evaluation consistent with business necessities and applicable law.
Preferred Experience
At least one (1) year of related maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, mechanical, or industrial experience.
Previous experience with chemical handling is preferred.
Experience filling, testing, repairing, or maintaining compressed gas cylinders is preferred.
Forklift experience is a plus; certification may be provided after hire.
Work Environment
Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions (typically for short periods).
Regular standing and walking required.
Work in areas requiring personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection as required.

Dust generated during sandblasting and surface preparation
Noise from industrial equipment
Physical requirements
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to safely move, position, and handle compressed gas cylinders using appropriate equipment and procedures.
Ability to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and manual handling tasks throughout the workday.

Pay: $23.00 per hour, plus participation in the Company Bonus Plan
