Responsibilities

The Account Manager provides customer support and manages existing Azurance Group accounts to maintain positive relationships and maximize renewal opportunities. They also serve as the primary seller of new business to small employer clients and coordinate with internal teams for smooth implementation.

Candidates must have an associate's degree (bachelor's preferred) and at least 3 years of sales or insurance experience. A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a ND Insurance Producer License within 3 months of hire are required.

Our Strategic Affiliation with Cambia
In 2026, BCBSND and Cambia Health Solutions formed a strategic affiliation to enhance access to simpler, more affordable health care while keeping a strong local focus. The affiliation was approved by North Dakota regulators and became effective Feb. 1, 2026. Under this affiliation, BCBSND employees became Cambia employees while continuing to serve the BCBSND market. Day‑to‑day work and hiring continue as usual.

 

Work environment

Travel is required for this role, with an estimated 20% travel.
 

Pay information

  • The estimated starting pay range for this role is $54,500 - $72,000. Offers to candidates are based on various factors such as previous experience, qualifications and internal equity.
  • This position is eligible for an annual sales incentive plan.
  • Opportunities for continued salary growth through performance-based incentive programs.
  • Pay Level: 021

Individual offers are based upon candidates’ unique experience, education, and skillsets. The top of the range reflects the ceiling for this role and is only used for offers in exceptionally rare cases. We do not extend offers above the posted maximum.

   

A day in the life

The Account Manager - Azurance Group is responsible for providing customer support and account management duties to existing Azurance Group accounts. This position serves as a point of contact for existing groups, maintaining positive relationships, and maximizing sales opportunities during the renewal process. This role is the primary seller of new business to Azurance's small employer clients. The Account Manager – Azurance Group works closely with internal account management teams to effectively renew active clients.

 

  • Develops, maintains, and assesses client accounts, and builds favorable relationships with clients.
  • Focuses on growing and developing existing accounts, together with generating new business.
  • Crafts targeted strategies designed to meet specific client needs and provides product recommendations based on internal and external factors.
  • Meets regularly with assigned client accounts and ensures clients are consistently satisfied with the organization's products and services.
  • Provides customer support and resolves escalated issues.
  • Provides information to clients about changes to contracts, underwriting policies and billing procedures, helping to resolve claims issues, and delivering member or client materials as needed.
  • Conducts open enrollment meetings and provides client trainings, if applicable.
  • Identifies additional sales opportunities during the renewal process.
  • Maintains knowledge of company products in the employee benefits industry, new service offerings, policies and procedures, and regulations impacting the business.
  • Keeps clients informed about company initiatives and programs highlighting the benefits to the consumer.
  • Collaborates with internal team members ensuring implementation and coordination of the renewal and sales activities are operating smoothly.
  • Ensures necessary documentation is completed and appropriate internal systems are updated.
  • Develops a professional rapport with clients to enhance new and ongoing business relationships.

 

What you need to succeed 

  • An associate's degree in marketing, business, healthcare or related field is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of sales, customer-facing, insurance, or related experience.
  • Must have or obtain ND Insurance Producer License, including the passing of the Accident and Health and Life and Annuity exams within 3 months of hire and maintain continuing education requirements annually.
  • Must maintain an active and valid/unencumbered driver's license which allows for standard driving privileges in North Dakota and Minnesota.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively interact with customers and build positive relationships.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Applies technical and professional knowledge to perform job responsibilities effectively.
  • Prioritizes tasks and organizes work to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Applies problem-solving skills to resolve issues and bring situations to closure.

 

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
