The Chief Financial Officer will help shape the financial future of the organization while supporting sustainable growth, operational excellence, and mission impact.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a trusted strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. The CFO provides leadership for financial strategy, accounting, budgeting, grant financial management, audit, compliance, and business systems while building scalable infrastructure for continued growth.
Strategic Financial Leadership
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and multi-year financial strategies.
Provide financial modeling and executive insights to support organizational decisions.
Develop executive dashboards and KPIs.
Identify opportunities to strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
Finance, Grants & Business Operations
Oversee accounting, treasury, payroll, budgeting, reporting, and cash management.
Lead financial management of all grants, ensuring timely reimbursement and compliance.
Develop processes that maximize allowable grant reimbursement.
Maintain timely month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Partner with program and development leaders on financial planning.
Financial Systems, Audit & Compliance
Lead continuous improvement of financial systems, automation, and reporting.
Develop SOPs, job aids, and scalable financial processes.
Oversee the annual audit and auditor relationships.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance, IRS, and grant requirements.
Promote transparency, accountability, and risk management.
Leadership & Organizational Partnership
Lead and develop a high-performing finance function.
Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Support Board and Finance Committee reporting and recommendations.
Strengthen cross-functional partnerships across the organization.
Supports Org/club IT operations with oversight of IT contractor.
Partnership with HR and other functions to ensure efficient finance system execution and compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field required; CPA preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive financial leadership experience.
Strong nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, audit, and budgeting expertise.
Experience presenting to executive leadership and governing boards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
