Greenhouse General Labour

Bevo Farms Ltd is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America, providing greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest-and-disease-free plants. Bevo operates four facilities in the lower mainland of British Columbia and two facilities in the province of Alberta.

SUMMARY

We are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to help produce and deliver healthy plants to our customers. This position is casual greenhouse general labour worker for our Medicine Hat Location.

This is a fast-paced environment where physical work is required. In this role, you will be required to do a range of tasks related to crop care/work. Other duties may include working on the potting line, laying trays, and loading pots onto carts. 

To be successful in this role, you must be able to adapt to greenhouse temperatures, be flexible to changing day-to-day tasks, and stand for long periods of time performing repetitive tasks. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Picking and loading plants; laying down trays to be watered; loading and hanging baskets; cleaning bays and dumping plants. 
• Working on the potting line, laying trays, and loading pots onto carts. 
• May be asked to count carts for shipping; eye for detail is important. 
• Adhere to all safety and hygiene procedures throughout the greenhouse, warehouse, and lunchroom. 
• Must have a positive attitude, willing to learn and willing to follow direction. 

REQUIRED SKILLS 

• Basic command of English with the ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
•  Forklift license an asset.
• Prior experience working in greenhouse. Minimum 1 year preferred but not required.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

• Legally entitled to work in Canada . 
• Willing to start working early mornings (6:00 am). 
• Reliable transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs) regularly.
• Ability to work in warm, humid greenhouse conditions.

POSITION DETAILS

• Position: Casual Greenhouse General Labour 
• Location: Medicine Hat, Alberta
• Employment Type: Casual
• Hours: Early morning shifts beginning at 6:00 a.m.; hours scheduled based on operational requirements.
• Compensation: $15 per hour
