What you'll be doing
Manage end-to-end semi-monthly, multi-provincial payroll including reviewing the payroll output as per established procedures prior to finalizing and submitting the payroll for final processing, to ensure accuracy.
Process all applicable payroll changes e.g. new hire, salary change, retro-pay, top-up, pay adjustments, termination pay, ROE etc.
Keep abreast of changes in payroll legislation and regulations and keep respective teams informed.
Prepare and complete reports and reconciliations for all payroll accounts including reconciliation and issuance of summaries related to federal and provincial taxes, year-end processing of T4 earnings, Employer Health Tax, T2200s, etc.
In conjunction with Finance and the external auditors, support the annual audit process as well as the preparation of the annual budget.
Provide ongoing assistance on projects related to the development and implementation of payroll and benefit procedures, systems, global rubles and practices to align with organization objectives.
Manage all aspects of the benefit and total rewards programs, including recommendations for enhancements and efficiencies, administration and correspondence with various benefit providers and benefit brokers.
Verifying and reconciling monthly invoices from all benefit carriers to ensure that new hires were added, terminated employees were removed and any other adjustments reflect correctly.
Provide data analytics for compensation surveys, payroll reporting, benefits reporting and provide support for the submission of all regulatory reporting on a monthly and annual basis.
Support the preparation of annual compensation statements, spreadsheets and confirmation letters for all Canadian colleagues.
Respond to a range of payroll and benefit inquiries, including reviewing and actioning items sent to the HR inbox and assisting employees with online self service registration to the payroll and relevant benefit systems.
Coordinate relevant engagement activities as it relates to payroll and benefits including, lunch and learns, webinars, training and regular communications.
Working collaboratively with the HR Team to provide support on any other projects, duties or tasks as required.
Ensure accurate and timely remittance of payroll taxes, benefits, and pension contributions to all relevant third parties.
What you'll need to have
University degree or college diploma or equivalent experience.
PCP and/or the CHRP designations are an asset(s)
3 to 5 years direct experience in payroll and benefit administration working in a corporate Human Resources department
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is required
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Comprehensive knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service
Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively deal with sensitive information
Strong time management skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work in a team environment and independently
