Position Summary: The Assistant Warehouse Technician is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager in maintaining safe and efficient operations of receiving, delivering and storing supplies and inventory. They also assist in the oversight and management of the operations of warehouse activities. The Assistant Warehouse Technician should be aware of sustainable practices and take proactive steps towards applying these principles in their daily work. Essential Duties:- Assist in the management of warehouse activities ensuring the safe and streamlined operation of the receiving, delivering, inventorying of supplies and material
- Perform daily tasks and short-term and long-term projects; continue work in the absence of the Warehouse Manager
- Perform tasks with receiving inventory and stocking of products
- Ensure safe and efficient workflow and operations of the atrium and warehouse spaces
- Verify purchase order numbers, materials/products received and quantities and resolving issues that may arise and archive information appropriately and timely
- Perform daily atrium operations, e.g., parking, equipment safety checks, housekeeping and organizing spaces and managing traffic
- Assist in the disposal or sale of surplus materials as per NYS regulations
- Collaborate with other staff and contractors when needed
- Assist with research, ordering parts and materials; manage work orders
- Assist with inventory management of commonly used supplies, tools and parts
- When requested, work closely with other Parks Operations staff and BPCA departments to assist in public educational activities such as tours, volunteer groups, and public and programmed events
- Assist in creating and updating records and Standard Operating Procedures
- Safely and effectively operate equipment, e.g., vehicles, hand tools, power equipment and safety equipment
- Maintain a high standard for safety by timely and safely cautioning off sites for workplace and public safety
- Use personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Identify and report issues and hazards appropriately and timely
- Perform emergency and non-emergency work as assigned such as work related to programmed and permitted events, job specific issues and severe weather events, e.g., snow and ice removal and flood protection measures as directed
- Maintain professionalism, including when interacting with the public
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in warehouse, inventorying and/or stocking experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- OSHA 30, certifications, higher education, and/or trainings on relevant skills preferred
- Certifications of relevant equipment, i.e., forklifts preferred
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness S94 preferred
- Experience with warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks preferred
- Experience working in public settings and knowledge of sustainability practices preferred
