Position Type: Full Time, Salary position with Full Benefits 
Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000 
Approximate Hours per Week: 40 
Travel: Less than 10% 
Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite) working from the Artemis San Diego location. 
Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard hours of 0800-1700 PST. 

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function. This role is responsible for executing HR processes across the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations.

The HR Generalist partners closely with executive leadership, managers, employees, and candidates to deliver exceptional service while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. They possess excellent communication skills and can work both independently and collaboratively across departments to support business and employee success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Coach leaders through employee performance, engagement, and corrective action processes.
  • Assist managers with coaching and performance documentation.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Foster a positive employee experience through consistent communication and support.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HRIS records.
  • Prepare employment documentation including offer letters, employment changes, and separations.
  • Support internal audits and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with hiring team to recruit and hire qualified candidates, develop job descriptions and create hiring requisitions.
  • Support new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Support workforce planning recruitment initiatives.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment and questions.
  • Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation.
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors and payroll department as needed.
  • Assist with training and development programs.
  • Participate in HR projects focused on process improvement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Maintain HR metrics and prepare reports for leadership.

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and troubleshooting.
  • Prior experience in the government contracting support services delivery preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance.

Technical Skills

  • Rippling (HRIS and payroll system)
  • Microsoft Excel (data tracking and reporting)
  • Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS Systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an Accredited College or University in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or related discipline.
  • An additional 3 years of progressive HR experience and HRCI or SHRM certification will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Three to Five (3-5) years HR experience.
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
