Responsible for the safe operation of aircraft to transport medical crews and patients while ensuring compliance with aviation regulations. Leads the base aviation team and maintains aircraft airworthiness through rigorous pre-flight inspections.
Requires an associate degree or equivalent with 2-5 years of related experience and a minimum of 2000 total flight hours. Must have flown for a commercial operator or military within the last 24 months.
Responsible for daily operations and leadership of the base aviation team and assures safety is communicated as the ”number on priority” in all activities. Responsible to ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patient to receiving hospital within an assigned operational area. Responsible for compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), and thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures. Serves as a role model for staff; meets and maintains all credentials/qualifications required of a Line Pilot.
