Information Technology Services is responsible for AARP enterprise-wide technology and information security functions. Services range from infrastructure design and operations, system and software lifecycle implementations, enabling the mobile workforce and protecting AARP network, systems and data. A variety of technologies and practices are used including cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning within highly collaborative Agile teams.
The Platform Manager establishes the platform’s vision, strategy, outcomes, metrics, and alignment with business needs and AARP technology standards. They create and socialize the platform strategy and associated outcomes throughout the enterprise while ensuring the delivery of value in an agile environment. The Platform Manager prioritizes platform management activities and participate in the platform planning process. They review and contribute to sprint and iteration goals, objectives, and the platform roadmap. In collaboration with senior management, they develop and execute strategic technology initiatives that position the organization for success. They balance short-term team achievements with long-term goals and foster a sense of ownership and accountability within the team.
Responsibilities- Drives the platform strategy and the development of new features and experiences.
- Owns the platform lifecycle including ideation, strategic planning, tactical initiatives, platform roadmap, platform development, and ongoing implementation and support. Ensures growth on established metrics.
- Leads, manages, and mentors the platform team to design, deliver, measure, and improve business outcomes using an agile approach.
- Facilitates input from internal stakeholders and other platforms and capability teams and negotiates timing, minimum viable product, and tradeoffs amongst them.
- Prioritizes the team’s backlog.
- Cultivates deep understanding of consumers/members/employees through human centered design including assessing needs, identifying pain points and/or barriers, ideating value proposition and solutions, and assisting in estimating demand.
- Conducts data driven analysis and analyzes performance to drive platform decisions that deliver business value.
- Develops technical knowledge and expertise related to domain area systems, solutions, services, and applications.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in information technology, cybersecurity, or identity and access management, including leadership responsibility for enterprise IAM capabilities and platforms (Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, etc.).
- Proven experience building, leading, and managing high-performing engineering and delivery teams, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Demonstrated ability to develop talent, strengthen team capabilities, and foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams using agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), with the ability to drive team execution, prioritize backlogs, and deliver measurable business outcomes through iterative development and continuous delivery practices.
- Deep knowledge of identity and access management concepts and technologies, including identity lifecycle management, authentication and authorization, privileged access management, multi-factor authentication, and access governance controls. Familiarity with enterprise security operations and access control standards is required.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute platform strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management, balancing short-term delivery priorities with long-term strategic goals and ensuring alignment to enterprise standards and business needs.
- Strong ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and align priorities across security, infrastructure, application, and business partners to deliver integrated IAM capabilities and outcomes.
- Experience using data, metrics, and industry insights to drive platform decisions, measure performance, and continuously improve services. Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and mitigate identity and access-related risks in alignment with enterprise security standards and compliance requirements.

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
