Full job description
Localisation Coordinator Location: Cambridge, UK (this role is office-based) Salary: £32,000–38,000 p.a. full-time equivalent, dependent on experience Basis: Permanent; full-time, part-time or flexible Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK
The Role
The Raspberry Pi Foundation offers free computing education resources that young people all over the world use to learn about coding and creating things with digital technologies. To make these resources more accessible, especially for young people from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, we work to localise them in line with local communities' needs. For example, our more than 200 free online projects are available in up to 32 languages thanks to the efforts of the volunteer translators we support. We are also localising our cutting-edge Experience AI classroom resources for multiple countries and schooling systems, in collaboration with delivery partners and language service providers.
We are looking for a Localisation Coordinator to join the Foundation’s translation and localisation team to support our localisation work and the translation volunteer community. Working closely with the Localisation Manager and the other Localisation Coordinator within the communications and marketing team, you will implement translation processes day to day, contribute to improving processes and tools, and provide support to volunteer translators.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who will relish a diverse role in an organisation that is at the forefront of the movement to broaden access to computing education. You may be someone who brings experience in the localisation industry or of technical translation processes and wishes to gain experience of project and community management. Or you may have experience of working for a language service provider and are interested in working on the customer side. You do not need to bring any coding skills to this role, but you need to look forward to starting to learn the basics. You should have a strong eye for detail and be a clear communicator. You should also enjoy learning about translation technology and getting to grips with software systems and technical processes.
We work hard to make sure that the Foundation is a place where everyone is supported to do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you're the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be joining an exceptional team of people who care about our mission and each other.
Responsibilities
General coordination of translation projects to make sure they are completed on time, on budget, and to the required quality expectations, including tasks such as gathering requirements, scheduling activities, tracking and reporting progress and costs, liaising as necessary with stakeholders, vendors, translators, or volunteers
Using AI translation tools to prepare materials for translation
Performing or facilitating desktop publishing and quality assurance of translated materials
Publishing completed translations and maintaining existing translations online, in collaboration with our digital products team
Onboarding and supporting new and existing translation volunteers, e.g. through training resources, translation events, and Q&A sessions
Maintaining termbases, translation memories, style guidelines, and AI resources
Supporting the implementation of improvements to translation processes and tools, and their documentation
Experience and personal attributes
We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not necessarily all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.
Experience of project coordination in the localisation industry, e.g. working with or for language service providers
Experience with translation workflows, including the use of translation tools, translation memories or AI translation tools
Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail and to processes
Excellent communication skills and high level of English literacy
Willingness and ability to learn new systems, technologies, and tools
Experience of volunteering or coordinating volunteers
Appreciation or experience of version control software, e.g. GitHub
Basic understanding of a programming language, e.g. Python or HTML
Experience of using CrowdIn, Jira, Contentful, Salesforce
About us
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent charity with a global mission to enable all young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.
We empower schools to teach computer science and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world's largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.
All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.
Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.
We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Review.

Our recruitment process
All of our workplaces are inclusive spaces where we want people to feel respected, valued, and able to do their best work. We are committed to building teams that bring together people with a broad range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. That starts with our recruitment process.
Here's what you can expect:
As part of your application, you will be asked to respond to a small number of questions that we will use to screen your eligibility for the role. You will also be asked to provide your CV.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by our recruitment team and the hiring manager. We review all applications for authenticity. While we embrace the use of AI tools to assist you, all content must genuinely represent your own work, and have been reviewed and personalised by you.
A small number of candidates will be invited to a phone call with the hiring manager.
The purpose of this call is to check our understanding of your application and to answer any questions you have.
We normally have two interviews, which may take place in-person. Interviews will be with the hiring manager and at least one other colleague.
You will usually be asked to undertake a work-based assessment in advance of your interviews. This will be an opportunity for you to show how you would perform some part of the role. You will be given advance notice and clear instructions.
If you have any questions about or feel that you need any adjustments to the recruitment process, including adjustments for neurodiversity, please contact our People and Culture team at [email protected].
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Everyone appointed to a role at the Foundation will be required to undergo a background check to confirm that you are a suitable person to work with children. Further background checks will be made at regular intervals thereafter.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.
Our vision
Our vision is that every young person develops:
• The knowledge, skills, and confidence to use computers and digital technologies effectively in their work, community, and personal life; to solve problems and to express themselves creatively
• Sufficient understanding of societal and ethical issues to be able to critically evaluate digital technologies and their application, and to design and use technology for good
• The mindsets that enable them to confidently engage with technological change and to continue learning about new and emerging technologies
Our long-term goals
1. Education: To enable any school to teach students about computing and how to create with digital technologies, through providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers.
2. Non-formal learning: To engage millions of young people in learning about computing and how to create with digital technologies outside of school, through online resources and apps, clubs, competitions, and partnerships with youth organisations.
3. Research: To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.
