The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment. They also manage the distribution of supplies and maintain accurate documentation for quality management.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and hold a Central Service Certification from IAHCSMM or CBSPD. Two years of central sterile experience is strongly preferred.

Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center is East County’s full-service hospital, always expanding to meet the community’s growing needs and offering an award-winning patient experience delivered with a personal touch. We offer advanced imaging, a modern emergency department, a welcoming family birth center, surgical services, intensive care, cancer care, gastroenterology and more.
The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, high-level disinfection, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, trays, equipment, and case carts used in medical and surgical patient care. Other duties include:
Distribute flexible scopes, biopsy instruments, traveling video carts, and other supplies and equipment used in endoscopic patient care.
Assist with the set-up, changeover, and stocking of procedure rooms.
Ensure instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated for safe handling.
Assemble and package instruments for sterilization according to procedure.
Monitor sterilization and processing equipment for proper functioning and maintain required documentation records.
Operate computer systems properly and safely.
Assemble case carts, house-wide procedure carts, and instrument drawers accurately and timely to ensure availability for surgery.
Respond to routine and non-routine requests for materials, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Record and maintain department quality-management indicators.
Promote professional growth and development of self and others.
