The $500B+ global agency services market is old and broken, and AI just blew the supply side open: 100+ AI-native services launched in the past year alone, with no platform connecting buyers to the new shape of supply. Role summary

This role owns the design, development, and evolution of backend services, APIs, data platforms, and AI-powered systems. Working directly with founders, this role turns ambitious ideas into scalable products, drives key architectural decisions, and establishes the technical foundations for long-term growth.

As one of the earliest engineering hires, this role will have significant influence over product direction, engineering culture, and the future of the platform.

What you'll own

• Build and scale backend services, APIs, data systems, and AI-powered capabilities.

• Own projects end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and iteration.

• Design and develop core platform capabilities, including wallet and ledger systems, pricing infrastructure, and data pipelines.

• Work directly with founders to turn ideas into production-ready products.

• Build reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support long-term growth.

• Maintain high engineering standards through clean code, testing, and thoughtful technical decisions.

• Drive architectural improvements and help shape Matchii's technical foundation and engineering culture.
  

Who we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems, APIs, or cloud-based applications in high-growth startups or technology companies.

• Strong proficiency in backend development, distributed systems, databases, and modern cloud infrastructure.

• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and secure systems in production environments.

• Familiarity with AI tools, LLMs, and modern AI development workflows.

• Ability to balance technical excellence with speed of execution in fast-moving environments.

• Strong ownership mindset with a passion for building products, solving customer problems, and driving business impact.

• Excited by startups, AI, platform businesses, and the opportunity to build from zero to one.
