The Engineer, Software develops, debugs, tests, deploys and supports code to be deployed in systems/products/equipment for various applications. They write, debug, maintain, and test software in various common languages and for software at various levels in the hierarchy (from Firmware to Application). Software creation follows an agreed to development process (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complies with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables).
The Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Design, develop, and maintain Network Stack components across L2/L3 protocols, management interfaces, and platform bring-up features.
Work on platform bring-up projects, including the implementation and integration of Linux device drivers, Stacking, and High Availability (HA) mechanisms.
Develop and optimize NOS software, working closely with underlying ASICs/NPUs and SDK architectures.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, engineering groups, and customer-facing teams to deliver robust networking solutions
L2 / L3: In-depth knowledge of L2 protocols (VLAN, LAG) and L3 routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS.
Management Interfaces: Experience with SNMP, Netconf/Yang, REST, CLI, gNMI, and gRPC.
Proven experience in NOS development or sustenance.
Hands-on experience with SONiC NOS is a strong plus.
Practical working experience with Broadcom (XGS/DNX family) or Marvell (Innovium/Prestera family) ASICs/NPUs.
Strong programming proficiency in C, C++, Python, and GoLang.
Hands-on experience in Linux device driver development and system-level platform bring-up.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and inter-working skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Demonstrated ability to interface directly with customer-facing teams and external technical stakeholders.
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
