SAP Basis Consultant

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Consultant to join our global SAP operations team and support complex SAP environments. The role will be responsible for SAP Basis administration, system monitoring, lifecycle management, performance optimization, security, and operational support within a managed services environment.

The consultant will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and global delivery teams to ensure the availability, stability, performance, and continuous improvement of SAP systems.

Core Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration across SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
• Strong knowledge of SAP system architecture, administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with:
  • SAP system installation and configuration
  • System provisioning and sizing
  • System refreshes and client administration
  • Kernel upgrades and patching
  • SAP Notes and support package implementation
  • Transport Management System (TMS)
  • System monitoring and health checks
• Good knowledge of SAP Solution Manager for system monitoring, application lifecycle management, and operational support.
• Experience with SAP landscape monitoring, alert management, and system performance monitoring.
• Good knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity processes.
• Good understanding of SAP HANA database administration and performance troubleshooting.
• Functional knowledge of SAP security, authorization concepts, user administration, and user provisioning.
• Experience with SAP interfaces, RFC connections, background jobs, and system connectivity.
• Understanding of managed services operations and global SAP support models.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day SAP Basis administration and technical operations across SAP landscapes.
• Monitor and maintain the availability, stability, and performance of SAP systems.
• Manage system provisioning, sizing, patching, upgrades, system refreshes, and transport activities.
• Monitor SAP systems using SAP Solution Manager and other monitoring tools.
• Analyze system alerts, performance issues, and technical incidents and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents, system performance issues, and technical problems.
• Support SAP backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability activities.
• Manage SAP users, technical users, authorizations, and provisioning in coordination with security teams.
• Monitor and troubleshoot background jobs, RFCs, interfaces, system connections, and other Basis-related components.
• Support SAP system upgrades, migrations, patches, and technical lifecycle activities.
• Support incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with agreed SLAs.
• Develop and maintain operational runbooks, technical specifications, procedures, and test scripts.
• Participate in service improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to optimize operational processes.
• Work directly with business users and stakeholders to understand issues, requirements, and priorities.
• Coordinate with global technical teams and third-party providers to resolve complex incidents.
• Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer across the support team.
• Support a 24/7 global operations model, including shift-based support when required.

Required Experience & Competencies

• 5+ years of experience in SAP Basis administration and SAP technical operations.
• Strong experience supporting SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA environments.
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager.
• Good knowledge of SAP HANA administration and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting medium to large SAP landscapes.
• Experience in incident, problem, and change management.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience creating operational runbooks, technical documentation, test scripts, and support procedures.
• Good understanding of backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and system continuity.
• Knowledge of SAP security, user provisioning, and authorization concepts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with business users and technical stakeholders.
• Ability to understand business requirements from the client's perspective and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within global and multicultural teams.
• Results-oriented with strong ownership and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, incidents, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in shifts to support global operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP Certified Technology Associate certification in SAP Basis, SAP HANA, or S/4HANA.
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager, including monitoring, ITSM, and system management.
• Experience with SAP HANA database administration.
• Experience in SAP implementation, migration, rollout, or managed services projects.
• Exposure to automation and scripting for SAP Basis operations.
