The Surgical Technician is responsible for assembling supplies, maintaining the sterile field, and passing instruments during surgical procedures. They ensure operating rooms are case-ready and collaborate with the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or have two years of acute care experience. Certification and specific experience in orthopedics are preferred.

High School Diploma or GED Plus Graduate of an NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technology program OR NCCT-approved Surgical Technology program OR Completed military surgical/scrub tech training OR Have two or more years of on-the-job surgical/scrub experience in an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year Operating room experience (preferred in Orthopedics)
Scrub Tech Certification
Orthopedic experience
Additional Information:
Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for assigned cases.
Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for surgical use.
Ensures that the instruments are cleaned arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy;
independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits;
Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day’s cases;
Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects.
Utilizes available communication tools;
demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members;
Shares knowledge information and expertise with other staff;
attends departmental in-services and other educational offerings;
Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.
Willing to learn new techniques.
