Requirements
Requires a university degree in physics, engineering, business, or supply chain management, preferably at a Master's level. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in procurement or project management within a high-tech or scientific environment.
Full job description
We are on a journey to build the next-generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing and are looking for a Procurement Manager to join our growing team.
Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation Quantum Computing Processor technologies. Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.
Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.
In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.
As our Procurement Manager, you will operate at the center of complex scientific, technical, and operational projects, ensuring that procurement activities are fully aligned with technical, commercial, and project requirements. Working closely with scientists, engineers, facilities teams, and external suppliers, you will help turn plans into reality and play a key role in building the infrastructure required for next-generation quantum processor manufacturing.
This is a broad and hands-on role that combines procurement, supplier management, project coordination, and operational execution. From identifying requirements through sourcing, contracting, delivery, installation, and commissioning, you will take ownership of critical projects and help drive them to successful completion. You will serve as a key interface between internal teams and external partners, balancing strategic thinking with practical execution. In our fast-growing and highly collaborative environment, no two weeks will look the same, and your ability to adapt, organize, and move projects forward will be essential to our success.
Your primary responsibilities and tasks may include:
End-to-end project management of equipment procurement and implementation projects
Establish and execute sourcing and procurement strategies, including supplier identification, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and performance follow-up
Coordinate technical and commercial requirements with scientists, engineers, and external suppliers
Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships throughout the project lifecycle
Support purchase order, contract, and budget management activities
Coordinate delivery, installation, and commissioning activities for equipment and infrastructure projects
Monitor and maintain supplier agreements, pricing structures, and commercial terms
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and ways of working as the organization continues to grow
We are looking for a motivated and versatile colleague with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, who enjoys taking ownership and helping turn complex plans into practical results. You thrive in an environment where priorities evolve, challenges arise unexpectedly, and collaboration across disciplines is essential.
You are equally comfortable coordinating stakeholders, managing suppliers, negotiating prices, solving practical problems, and driving projects forward. You have a structured approach to your work, strong analytical abilities, and the flexibility to move between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
Your multicultural colleagues from various disciplines enjoy working with you. With you on the team, the work becomes more efficient, well-organized, and enjoyable, and projects progress with clarity and momentum.
Your qualifications and experience may include:
A university degree in physics, engineering, business, supply chain management, or a related field (Master's level or equivalent preferred)
Relevant experience (typically 5+ years) within procurement, project management, supplier management, contract management, technical operations, or similar functions in a scientific, engineering, manufacturing, or high-tech environment
Experience managing or coordinating technical equipment purchases, installations, facility projects, or other complex supplier-driven projects
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate effectively with internal and external partners
The ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-growing organization
Fluent English skills (written and verbal). Danish language skills are considered an advantage
Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with leading experts in the field of quantum computing. We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most liveable cities in the world.
Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
