The Chief Academic Officer & DIO administers the educational environment for residents and fellows to ensure compliance with ACGME standards and organizational objectives. This role oversees Graduate Medical Education and Medical Student Education, managing strategic partnerships, budgets, and program performance metrics.
Requires an MD or DO degree with a current American Board of Internal Medicine certification and unrestricted New York medical licensure. Candidates must have at least five years of faculty experience in a residency program and three years of GME administrative experience.
The Chief Academic Officer & DIO (Designated Institutional Official) administers and maintains an educational environment conducive to educating residents/fellows in each of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competency areas and in conformance with program policies and procedures. The Chief Academic Officer is accountable to ACGME’s Residency Review Committee and the leadership of MVHS for the timely and accurate completion of all tasks and their quality. The Chief Academic Officer is also responsible for overseeing Medical Student Education within MVHS.

The MVHS serves the geographic area of Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties and is an integrated delivery system with 4,200 full-time equivalent employees and a combined operating budget of $537 million.
