OCCUPATIONAL AND EMPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Occupational and Employee Health Nurse Practitioner (OEH NP) provides comprehensive employee health services for Boston Medical Center Health System, including pre-placement medical evaluations, management of work-related injuries and exposures, return-to-work assessments, immunization and surveillance programs, employee education, and coordination of follow-up care.
Working collaboratively with the Medical Director and Occupational and Employee Health team, the OEH NP exercises independent clinical judgment and serves as a clinical resource on employee health matters across the health system. The position works closely with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, Environmental Health & Safety, Absence Management, and operational leadership to support employee health, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.In addition to direct clinical care, the OEH NP participates in employee health initiatives, quality improvement activities, and program development efforts.The position is primarily weekday-based.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
Clinical Practice
• Provide occupational and employee health services including pre-placement evaluations, management of work-related injuries and exposures, return-to-work assessments, immunization review and administration, and other employee health evaluations.
• Perform physical examinations and preventive health assessments within established protocols and scope of practice.
• Order, interpret, and evaluateappropriate laboratoryand diagnostic testing.
• Develop treatment plans, provide follow-up care, and coordinate referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers whenindicated.
•Maintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation within the electronic medical record.
• Communicate effectively with employees, managers, Human Resources, Absence Management, and other stakeholdersregardingwork status, restrictions, and follow-up plans asappropriate.
• Provide employee education related to workplace safety, exposure prevention,immunizations, health promotion, and disease prevention.
Program Development and Collaboration
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, Environmental Health & Safety, Employee Relations, and operational leadership to support employee health initiatives and regulatory compliance.
•Participatein employee health programs including immunization campaigns, exposure management programs, respiratory protection initiatives, and other departmental projects.
•Assistin the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of clinical protocols, standing orders, policies, and procedures.
• Serve as a clinical resource on occupational and employee health matters throughout the organization.
Professional Development
•Maintaincurrent knowledge of occupational and employee health regulations, clinical guidelines, and best practices.
•Participatein continuing education and professional development activities.
• Provide education to employees and colleagues through formal and informal teaching opportunities.
•Participatein committees, interdisciplinary workgroups, and organizational initiatives asappropriate.
Quality Improvement
•Participatein departmental quality improvement and program development activities.
•Utilizeclinical data and current evidence to improve patient care, employee health outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
•Assistinidentifyingtrends related to employee health, workplace injuries, and exposures and contribute to prevention strategies and process improvement initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner programrequired.
Experience
• Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experiencerequired.
• Minimum of two years of adult practice experiencerequired.
• Prior Occupational Health, Employee Health, Adult Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Urgent Care experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization to practice in an expanded role.
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification through ANCC or another recognized certifying organization.
• Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration and DEA registration asrequiredfor prescribing privileges.
• Current BLS certification.

Compensation Range:
$112,000.00- $162,500.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
