The Optical Technician is responsible for fitting and dispensing glasses and contact lenses based on medical prescriptions. They manage the total patient experience by recommending frames and lenses that meet both medical needs and aesthetic preferences.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with ABO and NCLE certifications preferred. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in customer or patient interaction, preferably within a medical or ophthalmic setting.
SUMMARY
An Optical Technician will achieve a world class Total Patient Experience that maximizes retail sales while also supporting the patients’ medical needs. This team member is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. They connect the patient's needs to the goods and services offered.
