Full job description
About Hotelschool The Hague
Hotelschool The Hague has built an excellent international reputation for almost 100 years. As an independent University of Applied Sciences with a dedicated focus on Hospitality Business, we offer both Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes that combine academic quality, professional relevance and a strong connection with the international hospitality industry.
Our reputation is built on the quality of our education, the commitment of our staff, instructors and lecturers, and our continuous drive to innovate. To further strengthen our Bachelor’s programme Hospitality Business Management, we are looking for an experienced and inspiring Programme Director Bachelor.
About the role
Together with the other Programme Director Bachelor, you will be responsible for the Bachelor’s program Hospitality Business Management, serving approximately 2,500 students across our two campuses in The Hague and Amsterdam.
In this senior leadership role, you ensure that our Bachelor’s programme remains future-focused, top notched and aligned with the latest developments in education, hospitality business and society. You play a key role in curriculum innovation, educational quality, student success, and the continued development of our teaching teams.
Working closely together with our other Programme Director, you will guide, motivate and support the Bachelor teams to achieve strong educational outcomes, high student satisfaction and a professional learning environment. The role includes responsibility for budget, FTE planning, and relevant KPIs. You will have four direct reports, the Team Leads Education, and you will report to the Dean. Since Hotelschool The Hague strongly believes in the combination of managing and teaching, this position includes 0.2 FTE of teaching.
What you will do
As Programme Director Bachelor, you will:
provide strategic and operational leadership for the Bachelor’s program Hospitality Business Management;
contribute to the continued development and innovation of the curriculum;
ensure educational quality, student success and program relevance;
lead, coach and develop the Team Leads Education and support strong collaboration across the Bachelor teams;
translate trends and developments in higher education, hospitality business, technology and society into meaningful educational improvements;
work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including academic teams, support departments and industry partners;
manage budget, FTE planning and programme-related KPIs;
contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced educational leader with a strong understanding of higher professional education and business education. You are able to combine strategic thinking with practical implementation, and you know how to inspire teams in a dynamic educational environment.
You bring proven experience in program management or educational leadership within a higher education institution. You have experience with curriculum innovation, budget, and FTE management, and you understand what is needed to deliver high-quality, future-oriented education.
You also bring a strong hospitality mindset: you are service-oriented, people-focused and able to create meaningful connections with students, colleagues and stakeholders.
Because this is a strategic educational leadership position, we invite candidates to demonstrate their educational vision as part of the application process. Applicants are asked to submit a brief vision statement (maximum one A4 page) describing how they believe a future-oriented four-year Bachelor of Hospitality Business programme should prepare graduates for the rapidly changing hospitality and service economy.
Your profile
You bring:
at least 5 years of relevant experience as a Programme Director, Programme Manager or in a comparable leadership role within higher education;
experience with budget responsibility, FTE planning and KPI management;
experience with curriculum development or curriculum innovation;
teaching experience, preferably within a University of Applied Sciences;
a strong understanding of business education;
relevant experience in both education and business environments, preferably within or connected to the hospitality sector;
strong leadership and people management skills;
excellent stakeholder management skills;
project management skills and the ability to translate plans into concrete results;
experience with international and intercultural collaboration;
a data-informed approach to decision-making;
an interest in educational innovation, including AI, technology and new forms of teaching, learning and assessment;
affinity with regenerative thinking and the future role of hospitality in society.
International experience is considered an advantage.
Your leadership style
You are an inspiring, approachable, and decisive leader. You know how to create direction, bring people together, and encourage ownership within teams. You are comfortable working in a complex educational organisation and are able to balance quality, innovation, operational feasibility, and stakeholder interests.
You are curious about the future of education and willing to rethink traditional models of teaching, learning, and assessment. You understand that strong education requires both academic quality and a clear connection with professional practice.
Why join Hotelschool The Hague?
At Hotelschool The Hague, you will join an internationally oriented educational community with a strong reputation in hospitality business education. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the further development of a leading Bachelor’s programme and to help shape the future of hospitality education.
This is a role for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact: on students, on colleagues, on the programme, and on the future of the hospitality industry.
Remuneration
Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 13 the labour agreement of Universities of Applied Science (CAO HBO) with a range between€ 6,461.91 and € 8,020.60 per month, depending on your professional experience and qualifications.
