The Head of the Space Segment Section manages the development of satellite communication technology and products while providing technical and financial reporting to ESA management. They also lead the section, coordinate support across various ESA directorates, and define technology needs for future satellite communication products.
Candidates must hold a master's degree in a relevant domain with at least 8 years of professional experience, or a bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience. Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills are essential, along with deep knowledge of the satellite communication market and ESA procurement processes.

A master’s degree in a relevant domain is required for this post together with 8 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor’s degree, complemented by an additional four (4) years of relevant professional experience can be considered.
People management experience is an asset, as is international experience, i.e. outside your home country, as well as experience in diverse functional areas relevant to ESA activities.
Experience in managing complex research and development programmes, preferably in the telecommunications domain, is desirable

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests.
