Summary
As a STERIS Repair Technician, you will perform stainless surgical instrument inspection, repair and refurbishment in a field-based setting. You will work out of mobile repair trucks at Customer sites and/or regional labs in more condensed markets. You will deliver superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards.
You do not have to have previous instrument repair experience to be considered. This is an entry level role and we'll train you. Examples of transferable experience into this role may include hands-on repair, assembly, product testing, small engine repair, cell phone/ electronics repair/ testing/ re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly/ repair, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, welding, fabrication, automotive repair, and much more
This role requires daily travel by driving a company vehicle. If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7 year driving record check, as part of our onboarding process. An acceptable driving record generally means a driver has a very limited number of moving violations, accidents, or driving-related convictions. This role will primarily service Customers in Tri-Cities area but will also service Spokane and Missoula, Montana (once a month). Will have 0-1 overnights per month.
This is safety sensitive position.
What you’ll do as a Repair Technician
You will perform basic level repair and maintenance of surgical instruments, including ultra sonic, buff and polish, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
You’ll provide invoicing, work orders, and daily documentation in accordance with Customer reporting and contractual/regulatory requirements, including end-of-day reporting, such as the OAR.
Complete Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI), as needed, within training and capability level.
You will be responsible for adhering to DOT, company, and Customer protocols for the safe operation of the On Location repair truck, including vehicle and equipment safety procedures.
You’ll abide by all Company safety and health policies, uses personal protective equipment and complete safety observations per site requirements.
While primarily working inside a mobile repair truck, frequent trips inside the hospital are required.
You will provide support to various locations within assigned territory depending on the service agreements, Customer needs, and staffing levels.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 1 year of hands on experience that may include repair, assembly, product testing, or use of small hand tools (or equivalent transferable experience). May include experience such as carpentry, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, machining, tool and die, mechanical/ repair, construction, small engine repair, cell phone/ pc/ tablet repair, testing and rebuilds, circuit board assembly, fabrication, welding, or automotive repair. All experience must be verifiable.
Related certifications in technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards experience requirement
Must be able to lift up to 50-100 pounds at times and push instrument rolling carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times
Must be able to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours, sometimes outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, based on Customer needs
Must be a minimum of 21 years old with the ability to meet FMCSA/DOT and drivers license requirements
Must be able to pass a DOT medical/ physical exam, comply with all DOT regulations and conduct basic box truck safety checks
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. CDL required where applicable.

Pay range for this opportunity is $21.86 - $28.29. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
