Your Role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital We have permanent part-time opportunities for Clinical Nurses to join our compassionate Palliative Care team. You will help optimise each patient’s quality of life by managing pain and symptoms, ensuring they remain comfortable and supported. Compassionate end-of-life care for patients, carers and families is central to our mission, and you will play a key role in delivering it.
Our Palliative Care Ward – Granada is a busy 15 bed unit providing specialised palliative care to our patients. Our ward is staffed by a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, and support staff who are trained in managing pain and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
The Position
Supervise clinical practice of all caregivers taking responsibility for standard of care delivered.
Initiate reviews and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems.
Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.
Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Unit Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Unit Manager regarding updates.
Participate in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.
Systematically evaluate actions and document the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions (including monitoring diagnostic results) and report significant anomalies promptly.
Ensure documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy.
Prioritise departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively.
Assist the Nurse Unit Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department.
You will hold registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and ideally you will be pursuing/possess a postgraduate certificate in palliative care and demonstrate experience in training/educating junior staff. You will demonstrate significant recent post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level.
To succeed you will demonstrate well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate to the team. In addition, you will have the ability to plan, assess and develop team and individual performance.

Salary: $109,599 to $115,681 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation
A permanent part-time position, working 56 hours per fortnight
