The Role
This is one of the most exciting F&B leadership opportunities in New Zealand right now. Following a full renovation, QT Queenstown will be the largest 5-star hotel in Queenstown, with 225 stunning rooms and a food and beverage offering to match. As Director of Food and Beverage, you'll take the reins across four distinct venues, leading a talented team of 35 and setting the standard for what premium hospitality looks like in one of the world's most sought-after destinations.
This is a role for a commercially driven, people-first leader who knows how to build exceptional teams, deliver outstanding guest experiences and grow a high-performing F&B operation from the ground up. If you're ready to make your mark on Queenstown's hospitality scene, this is your opportunity.
This is a full-time permanent role with a minimum guaranteed hours of 40 per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across all four QT Queenstown F&B venues, driving quality, consistency and a guest experience that's unmistakably QT.
- Own the full financial performance of the F&B department including revenue growth, labour costs, COGS, stock control and budget management, using EVT systems and tools to maximise efficiency.
- Build, inspire and develop a team of 35, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, performance management and ongoing training to ensure the team is always operating at its best.
- Collaborate with the Culinary Lead on menu development and with venue managers on beverage offerings across the restaurant, bar, in-room dining, events and VIP amenities.
- Analyse guest satisfaction data and act on feedback swiftly, maintaining a continuous improvement approach to both the guest experience and team engagement.
- Drive revenue through upselling, promotions and incentive schemes, ensuring QT Queenstown performs competitively in the market.
- Champion compliance across food safety, WHS, HACCP, brand standards and EVT policies, and take the lead in crisis management situations as required.
- Conduct regular outlet inspections, maintain stock control and ordering compliance, and ensure all financial transactions are handled securely and accurately.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a F&B management role, ideally within a luxury or premium hotel environment.
- A proven track record of leading large, multi-venue F&B operations and delivering strong commercial results.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience building high-performing, highly engaged teams.
- Excellent financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, payroll management and cost control.
- Experience with hotel systems and revenue management principles.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships with ease.
- A relevant degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration or equivalent, and a current LCQ/Manager's Certificate. (Preferred not essential)
- Full flexibility to work across early, late, weekend and holiday shifts as required.
