Job title: Assistant Director,TnO Analytics

GRA Traded & Operational Risk Analytics team is responsible for model development, model risk governance, monitoring performance, backtesting and define future action for all Regulatory Capital models (IMA and IMM) within Traded Risk business for HSBC. Traded risk models include: (1) Market Risk models; (2) Counterparty Credit Risk models; (3) Add-on models; (4) Economic Capital. The team is a critical part of First Line of Defence (FLoD) from Model Risk perspective and is essential in meeting Regulatory and Audit requirement for the business.

In this role, you will:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

• Perform activities pertaining to First Line of defense based on the Model Risk Management Framework for traded models:
• Oversee and Manage book of work for Global Traded & Operational Risk Analytics team.
• Model Governance Process Improvement
• Innovation/ Automation
• BAU reporting / MI reporting
• Semi-annual attestation – Global Model Inventory System (GMIS)
• Responsible for driving improvements in accuracy and meaningfulness of data in Global Model Inventory System (GMIS).
• Undertaking of key projects in collaboration with Traded Risk GRA stakeholders.
• Responsible for control testing the embeddedness of Traded Risk GRA controls and procedures and ensuring the appropriate action, oversight and tracking in mitigation of any identified non-compliance.
• Act in the capacity as a trusted advisor to key Traded Risk GRA stakeholders in relation to GRA model control activity.
• Responsible for the generation and presentation of key model control MI for the use of Traded Risk GRA ExCo and key Model governance forums.
• Facilitate the model reviews by IMR, Internal and external Audit. Liaise with stakeholders to close findings in a timely manner.
• Implementing global best practices related to traded risk management.
• Maintain and update Traded Risk relevant FIMs, policies, framework, Terms of Reference.

• Collaborate with Group and Regional teams to achieve business objectives.
• Strong business acumen with out-of-the box thinking to drive improved business performance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and seamless delivery of analytics initiatives across markets.
• Proven ability to take ownership of and solve complex data related issues; Business problem solving skills is essential.

To be successful you will:

Functional Knowledge

• Strong Analytics background, with a proven track record of delivering analytics project.
• 6-12 years of relevant experience in advanced analytics, model management and project management.
• Good programming skills (Python, Python Dash, Tableau, VBA etc.) to streamline and automate governance process.
• Good understanding of Traded Risk domain will be preferred.
• Manage and train Junior staff.
• Ability to clearly communicate and engage independently with senior management stakeholders across a matrix organization.
• Ability to drive results in a limited time duration and handle constant work-related pressure.

Others

• Thought leadership in spotting opportunities for closing the gaps with respect to current process, policy, and framework.
• Programming skills in Visualization and Dashboard storytelling.
