Franklin Biolabs, Inc. is in search of a Laboratory Equipment Engineer, II who is responsible for the design, integration, qualification, maintenance, and lifecycle management of GxP analytical and vivarium laboratory equipment and supporting systems. This role may also include authoring deviation investigations, change controls, and equipment functional tests, as well as reviewing facility designs to support the introduction of new equipment or processes. The position ensures laboratory instruments and infrastructure operate reliably, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and operational requirements, while partnering closely with scientists, quality, facilities, and IT teams to support efficient laboratory operations and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced contract research environment and is comfortable managing a broad range of technical and operational challenges. This position requires full-time on-site presence during scheduled working hours and may include weekend support as needed to maintain laboratory operations. The role also participates in an on-call rotation to respond to emergencies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Chemical, Systems, or related field) and 2+ years of relevant industrial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Experience with CMMS / asset management systems
Good documentation and attention to details.
Ability to forecast issues and problem solve with oversight from senior employees.
Holds themselves accountable for the success of the department and company.
Previous experience in regulated environments (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced highly accountable environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Self-directed individual with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties.

This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location.
Immunizations and Screenings
This position requires access to lab spaces.
This position will require access to lab animal spaces.
Essential Status
This position may be required to go on-site during company closures to sustain the life and care of animals/biological materials. Examples of company closures include snow days, special shutdowns, etc.
Essential for Research: This position may be required to go on-site to perform their regular work functions related to continued research during periods of adjusted operations. This would not likely be required to go on-site during a company closure under normal business operations.
