JOB PURPOSE: In conjunction with the Center’s mission, provides comprehensive dental care in a patient- centered, quality oriented manner while also providing clinical supervision and instruction to the AEGD Residents and dental students
The primary goal of the El Rio Health Dentist is to support El Rio’s Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs in a timely manner the administrative duties associated with the practice of dentistry, including chart documentation, the completion of referrals and pre-authorizations, lab case follow-up, and chart review and attending duties for the dental residents and dental students.
Participates in the Center’s Quality Assurance Program and peer review process.
Follows and complies with all OSHA regulations, guidelines, and established Center- wide policies and procedures regarding employee safety, infection control and sterilization.
Follows and complies with all HIPPA regulations, guidelines and established Center-wide policies and procedures regarding patient confidentiality.
Attends committee meetings and staff meetings as required.
Maintains a satisfactory level or better on the annual performance evaluation, and keeps licensure and credentialing current and up to date.
Provides a work environment safe and free from hazards; immediately addresses or informs management of safety issues or potential hazards; adheres to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures; participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
Works clinical sessions and/or Attends residents/students during clinical sessions as assigned by the Dental Director and is prepared to begin work during these clinical sessions in a punctual manner.
Provides comprehensive dental care that is considered reasonable and prudent within the Standard of care by a General Dentist to a wide variety of patients in a quality oriented, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Takes on-call after hours emergency telephone calls for patients of record on a rotating basis.
Staffs evening or Saturday clinics as determined by the current clinic policies at the direction of the Dental Director.
Works with the Health Center’s medical staff in a collaborative manner in support of the Integrative Health Home Model and is available for consultation with the Center’s Medical Staff regarding patients’ dental problems.
Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
Maintains exceptional level of customer service; addresses and resolves complaints; serves as an example by providing excellent service to internal and external customers, employees, and patients. Demonstrates and models El Rio Behavioral Standards in all interactions with patients, co-workers, and visitors.
Demonstrates service excellence through the use of AIDET principles consistently applied with all patients, community members, co-workers, and colleagues.
Directly supervises members of their dental team and works in a professional, cooperative, and congenial manner with the dental auxiliary staff (i.e., hygienists, dental assistants, and dental receptionists, residents, and students.)
Directs and supervises dental auxiliary staff in their normally assigned duties.
Works cooperatively with providers and all staff to assure a high standard of patient service/quality care.
Embraces and promotes a professional working environment based on understanding and respect for diversity and multi-culturalism in all of its forms; demonstrates sensitivity, acknowledges varied beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and customs, and encourages communication and appreciation of all forms of diversity.
Supervises the AEGD Residents and Dental Students as assigned according to the established ADA accreditation requirements and complies with all facility policies and procedures, including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Corporate Compliance Policies.
Contributes to a team effort in all interactions with patients and staff by following the established Behavioral Guidelines and Code of Conduct policies.
Maintains in a cost-effective, quality-oriented way, the established minimum patient productivity goals.
Utilizes Health Center resources, supplies, and equipment in an effective and judicious manner.
Participates in continuing dental education according to the requirements set forth by Board of Dental Examiners. (Currently 24 hours per year.)
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
In support of the Mission and Vision of El Rio Health, will at all times represent themselves as a professional role model of El Rio Health serving as a positive informational source for members of the community.
Supports El Rio by participating in community events which promote good health, and which contribute to a broader awareness and understanding of El Rio Health and the many services provided to the community.
Participates in all appropriate health care activities related to El Rio Health on a local, state, and national level to maintain and enhance El Rio’s image with health agencies, professional associations, and the public.
Ensures and supports the cost-effective use of materials, supplies, and equipment by limiting waste of all organizational supplies and resources.
Employees must maintain their skills proficiency with El Rio operating systems and/or software programs by adapting to changing requirements and successfully learning and demonstrating new skills in response to software, system, and program improvements or upgrades.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
Licensure from the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners
Current Arizona State Licensure Certificate of Renewal
Current DEA Number Certificate
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
Proof of Post Graduate Residency (if applicable)

Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday.
