Your Impact
The Sr. HAZMAT Data Integrity Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of Lowe's hazardous materials (HAZMAT) item data across all nodes including onboarding, storage, shipment, and disposal. Lowe's defines a hazardous material (HAZMAT) item as any product that is chemical or battery in nature and has a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
The position will balance operational execution with strategic oversight by owning key aspects of the Lowe's HAZMAT item classification process. The role will ensure New Item Setup for both stock and marketplace HAZMAT items contain the data and documentation required to support compliant intake, storage, transportation, sale, and disposal decisions across the enterprise, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
A key responsibility of the role will be to oversee third-party HAZMAT data classification vendors, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of product classification data returned. The position will manage vendor performance, monitor service-level expectations, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement to support business and compliance objectives.
What You Will Do
Serve as a subject matter expert for HAZMAT classification and data governance by interpreting regulatory requirements, resolving complex data and process issues, and providing guidance to business partners on emerging business needs related to the storage, shipment, or disposal of HAZMAT items.
Ensures complete and accurate HAZMAT item attribute data is maintained across enterprise systems by reconciling conflicting information between supplier data, third-party vendor data, and internal systems.
By driving data quality, process consistency, and system alignment, the role will improve item onboarding efficiency across enterprise systems and downstream data sources, reduce compliance risk, and minimize operational disruptions to enable safe, compliant product flow and sales throughout the enterprise.
Analyze HAZMAT data, compliance metrics, and operational trends to identify risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities for all selling nodes. It will lead cross-functional initiatives related to HAZMAT data governance, compliance, and process improvement by coordinating stakeholders, managing project milestones, driving issue resolution, and ensuring successful implementation of business and regulatory requirements across internal teams such as Store Operations, Merchant Teams, and Supply Chain and external partners.
Mentor to the Environmental Data Compliance Specialist role as well as provide day-to-day guidance, quality review, and subject matter expertise to team members, vendors, and business partners to ensure consistent application of HAZMAT classification standards and data governance practices.
Partners closely with Merchandising teams and suppliers of items to ensure all required HAZMAT data attributes, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and UN38.3 battery test summaries are obtained and maintained in accordance with DOT, EPA, and applicable state regulations. This partnership supports accurate product classification, efficient item onboarding, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Examples of HAZMAT items include but are not limited to: paint, stains, aerosols, fertilizers, pesticides, cleaners, soaps, detergents, pool chemicals, fuel, roof tar, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and refrigerants.
Manage external vendor relationships and third-party data feeds to maintain accurate, consistent, and up-to-date HAZMAT attributes and documentation across enterprise systems.
To support organizational objectives, the role will develop and maintain dashboards and reporting that monitor HAZMAT item volumes, onboarding performance, shipping compliance, data quality, and emerging risk trends. These insights improve program visibility, support proactive issue resolution, enhance regulatory readiness, and enable informed business decision-making regarding the sale and movement of regulated products across the enterprise.
Oversee the administration of HAZMAT and Fire-related inspection and permit invoices for all store locations, ensuring timely payment, accurate documentation, and compliance with applicable local and state regulatory requirements.
Conduct presentations and training for business partners and leadership teams to support program objectives and regulatory awareness. The position will identify opportunities to improve HAZMAT processes, data governance, and system capabilities, recommending and implementing solutions that strengthen compliance, operational efficiency, and the long-term scalability of Lowe's HAZMAT program.
